English actress Anna Maxwell Martin returns to BBC One police drama Line Of Duty this weekend to cause a stir. The 43-year-old will reprise her role as DCS Patricia Carmichael, the senior investigating officer of AC-3.

The television star was on Zoe Ball’s Breakfast Show this morning to talk about her return, when chaos ensued.

She was happily chatting away when her dog Bobby started barking loudly in the background.

This prompted the host to ask: “Are you being attacked by a dog, by the way?”

“That is my dog. That’s Bobby,” Anna said, before explaining why he had suddenly started to disrupt the conversation.

“As you called… as I was about to go on, the lovely man came round to fix the toilet.

“So as you were saying, ‘Hello, it’s Anna…’ I was opening the door to the man coming to fix the toilet.

“He’s now upstairs fixing the toilet but Bobby is attacking him.

“And I can’t help Paul cause I’m down here on Radio Two,” she went on to add.

“Paul we hope you are OK,” Zoe said.

“This is brilliant. Absolutely incredible scenes here,” the presenter amusingly added.

Zoe then cut to a song so Anna, who separated from her partner Roger Michell, could step in and help.

She had just done the school run so her two daughters were not at home and able to offer a hand.

Anna previously appeared in series five of Line of Duty back in 2019.

She told Zoe that she loved playing the part of Pat as she was “a real cow”.

Despite the heavily worded script, which is filled with police jargon, the actress said the cast and crew had a great time on set.

“It’s not tense, it’s hilarious,” she explained.

Talking about the scenes in the interview room, Anna added: “You go demented.

“You are in a glass box with lots of people and actors, you know, we’re always mucking around and giggling.

“So it’s not difficult. It’s actually a really exciting thing to do.”

However, Anna did say that she had signed a “million forms” and so was not allowed to reveal any spoilers.

Line Of Duty continues on Sunday on BBC One at 9pm.
