Lord Alan Sugar celebrates 53rd wedding anniversary with epic throwback

Lord Alan Sugar was naturally in a nostalgic mood while celebrating his 53rd wedding anniversary this week and shared the most epic throwback photo.

The Apprentice star married his wife Ann Simons, a former hairdresser, in 1968 at Great Portland Street Synagogue.

To mark the special occasion, Lord Sugar dove into his archives and found a photo from his and Ann’s wedding day. The happy newlyweds are seen beaming from ear to ear in the back of a car, moments after tying the knot, with Ann in her lace wedding dress and Lord Sugar looking dapper in a suit and bowtie,

‘53 years ago 28th April 1968,’ the businessman captioned the image.

The throwback stirred memories from some of Lord Sugar’s followers of their own wedding days, with one sharing their black and white wedding photo after marrying the same year as the star.

‘Same for us 13th July 1968. Congratulations,’ one said alongside their snap.

‘Happy anniversary enjoy the rest of your time together,’ another fan said.

One added: ‘Congratulations to both of you! Truly blessed couple.  Pray for the same. May your love for each other grow even stronger than ever before and May you both be in good health, prosperity, joy and happiness even as you both celebrate wonderful years together in Jesus name.Amen.’

Passing on their well wishes, another follower said: ‘Congratulations that is very impressive indeed and I hope you have many more years together.’

Lord Sugar, 74, met Ann, 72, when he was 18 and she just 16, and married two years later. The TV star once recalled how he proposed to Ann and said: ‘It was more along the lines of, “I suppose we should get married then?”

‘There was certainly no going down on one knee, with a rose, in a restaurant. In fact we were going over the Stratford flyover in the minivan at the time.’

Lord Sugar whisked Ann off to Majorca for a two-week honeymoon.

The couple currently live in Chigwell, Essex and share three children; Simon, Daniel and Louise.
