Love Island star Danny Bibby's dad has quit Instagram after suffering backlash over a historic post on his son's account that featured the N-word.

The reality star's father Ricky had joined the social media platform under the handle @dannybibbysdad to share a series of embarrassing snaps of his son while he attempted to find love in the Majorcan villa.

However, shortly after it was unveiled that Danny would be joining the hit ITV dating show, eagle-eyed fans were horrified to find the N-word in a comment on his feed.

Danny posted an image of himself on holiday in November 2019 wearing a white shirt covered in a leaf print. A friend of Danny's commented: "Champ," alongside a fist emoji underneath the photo, with Danny replying: "my n****".

Since then, both Ricky and his son have issued public apologies, insisting that he is "not racist".

Despite this, people have continued to bombard Danny's dad's account with angry messages and it appears to have become too much for Ricky.

In a final post on his account, which is now set to private, he told his followers: "Sorry peeps. The fuse has blown. Too much hassle this," before adding: "Was gonna be a bit of fun but…. bye."

After becoming aware of the public rage over the comment, Danny shared a statement from within the villa, which read: "I'd like to take the time to apologise to anyone that may have taken offence to my inappropriate remark.

"I never meant anything malicious by this comment at all. I am not a racist person and it's unacceptable language and ignorant. I meant no offence and feel like I have really learnt from my mistakes and will never use that word again.

"I am a kind loving person and hopefully you get to see that in the show."

Prior to this, his dad Ricky had also defended Danny as he wrote: "Danny does not have a racist bone in his body and there were no racist intentions to this post.

"Although it was not done maliciously, it was a mistake. I absolutely apologise on his behalf for the offence this wording may have caused. That would never have been his intention."

Danny hasn't had the easiest time since entering the villa as his partner Lucinda Strafford, 21, ditched him to pursue a romance with Aaron Francis, 24.

However, things were starting to look up for the star as bombshell AJ Bunker, 28, set her sights on him after being "friend zoned" by Hugo Hammond, 25, who said that they would be "better off as friends".

AJ and Danny had already shared a kiss during a challenge the previous day and the Wigan native couldn't help but ask: “You want to do it again?"

The pair ended up kissing, with AJ saying: Yyou don’t mess around do you,” once they had finished sharing their steamy smooch.
