Just days after their last appearance together at the Indiana Jones movie premiere in London, Love Island winners, Davide Sanclimenti and Ekin-Su Culculoglu split, shocking fans of the couple.
Now claims have suggested the reason behind the break-up and it has been alleged that Davide, 27, felt like he was living in his girlfriend's "shadow" after her many lucrative deals made him feel as though she saw their relationship as a "money-making brand" as opposed to a true love match.
A source close to Davide told The Sun: “He felt swamped in the relationship, like he had totally lost his identity. He felt he was in Ekin’s shadow, with no room to grow.
“And he felt she cared more about them as a money-making brand than as a love match."
The source added Davide had been "wanting to end it for some time."
The pair were together for 11 months after finding love on last summer's show and even discussed marriage and having children. The feisty couple were known for their on and off vibe, clashing over opinions, flirting and secret terrace snogs but they stood the test of time in the real world, even moving in together, until now.
The source alleged that the Italian hunk wasn't keen to move in with Ekin, 28, in the first place, knowing it would be harder for him to leave if he wanted to.
OK! has contacted Ekin-Su and Davide's representatives for comment.
It was Davide who took to Instagram to alert his fans of his changed love status. Sharing the sad news, he said, "Ekin-Su and I are no longer together. I am grateful for the memories and opportunities we shared together and I wish her nothing but the best.
'I would like for everybody to respect this decision during this difficult time. I will continue to support Ekin in anyway possible."
Ekin has remained silent on the subject, and instead headed off on a trip to Bodrum, Turkey, to spend time with family. She still has her winner status with Davide from the show pinned at the top of her Instagram grid for her 3.2million followers.
Meanwhile, Davide has been having fun in the sun over in Ibiza, posting shirtless photos of himself on boat trips and muscle-revealing shots at the gym. Fans were quick to speculate that the Italian stallion might even drop in on this year's Love Island after a sunny shot of him was captioned with 'Guess who's coming back,' but so far, there has been no hint of him in the villa.
The shocking split isn't the only Love Island break-up lately, with many no longer together including Gemma Owen and Luca Bish, Paige Turley and Finley Tapp and Faye Winter and Teddy Soares.
