Love Island’s Gemma Owen responds to claim there was ‘more going on’ with Billy

Love Island 's Gemma Owen has responded to claims that there was "more going on" with Billy Brown on the show than what the viewers (or Gemma's partner Luca Bish) saw.

The 19 year old daughter of football ace Michael Owen was one of the original Islanders on this year's series, and she met Billy, 23, when he entered the Casa Amor villa as one of six new "bombshells".

The pair engaged in a bit of flirtation whilst they were in the separate villa, which caused frictions with Luca, 23, when he watched Billy ask Gemma for "a hug", when the Islanders watched their spouses on Movie Night.

Ronan Keating's son Jack, 23, who entered Casa Amor alongside Billy, claimed that the pair "vibed big time" and that there was "more going on".

Gemma has set the record straight on rumours of a romance between her and Billy as she told Cosmopolitan: “There was a rumour about me and Billy knowing each other before the show, or there was something more [between us] on the show that people didn't get to see.

“I'd like to set straight that that is not true. I made it very clear to Billy that it was just a friendship thing and that my eyes were only for Luca.”

When Jack made his claims about there being "more going on" between them, he said to theDaily Star: "From what I saw in our villa in Casa Amor, I know Billy and Gemma got on really well.

"I know that he came back into the main villa, with Movie Night, and things got very awkward between the three of them. But those two definitely vibed big time."

He continued: "I wouldn't say it was legit-legit but there was definitely some more going on, definitely, it's kinda hard to say.

"I mean, yeah, there was definitely more flirting going on and some of the lads were like 'woah' at points, but it wasn't too serious where you could actually see them cracking on but there were definitely some moments where you were like Billy and Gemma, you never know, you never know."

OG Beachwear businesswoman Gemma also attempted to set the record straight about Billy when she appeared on Heart Radio this week.

Host Jamie Theakston asked her: “Jacques has been saying, more went on with Billy and Gemma than people know. What does he mean by that?”

In typical fashion, Gemma's response was as direct as can be: "God knows, because it’s an absolute lie. If you think about it, if there was something more to be shown, if there was something more going on, they would’ve shown it. That would’ve been juicy.”
