Lucy Watson admits real reason she left MIC after Stephanie Pratt fall out

The nation was devastated in 2016 when the queen of Chelsea, Lucy Watson, announced she was no longer going to be a cast member on Made in Chelsea.

And seven years on from leaving the show, Lucy, 31, has now revealed the real reason why she left the reality show after her televised fallout from former co-star and The Hills star Stephanie Pratt.

Stephanie – who is the sister of Spencer Pratt – secretly quit Made in Chelsea in March 2018 after joining the programme in 2013, as fans saw Steph have plenty of coffee catch ups with the Watson sisters over the years.

But speaking to pal Jamie Laing, 34, on his podcast Private Parts with Alex Mytton, 31, Lucy revealed she needed to leave the show after things turned sour with Stephanie, 36.

"The real reason was, you know that argument with Steph [Pratt]? It wasn't portrayed – in my opinion – the way that it actually went down," Lucy says.

"Then I felt like from that argument it all came about my relationship, how there were things wrong with it and [Steph] started saying things like '[James] kicked her out of my apartment.'"

Lucy explained that she and her husband James Dunmore, 33, "were arguing more" while she was on the programme, and it made her realise what her priorities were.

"[Me and James] were arguing more during that time and I was like 'this is going to make us argue' and then I realised you can't really be in a happy relationship on that show," she shared.

"At that point I was quite serious with James so I was like 'actually I value this more.'"

The Feed Me Vegan author then added: "Plus the controlling side of [the show] where you couldn't do other work really annoyed me because I really wanted to do loads more."

A spokesperson previously said of Lucy's decision to depart from the show at the time: "After four amazing years on Made in Chelsea, Lucy feels that now is the right time to explore some other exciting opportunities and projects that she is passionate about.

"Being part of such a successful show has been an incredible experience for her, and she wishes everyone involved all the very best for the future."

It isn't the first time Lucy has reflected on her experience of Made in Chelsea either – as she previously spoke with her sister Tiffany Watson, 29, and friend Nicola Hughes, 32, about "meddling" in Louise Thompson, 32, and 34 year old Spencer Matthews' then-relationship.

Speaking on the What We Don't Post podcast, Lucy referred to how she went on to date Spencer after he had called time on his relationship with Louise back in 2013.

"Equally, I need to take my own responsibility in that I did definitely meddle in Louise and Spencer’s relationship and that was really uncalled for and really bad and I was literally doing what I was being told," she said. "It sounds so bad but I didn’t want to lose my position on the show, so I did things that totally weren’t in line with my morals."

Lucy added: "As soon as I got to the second season, I was like, I do not want to do that ever again. That was really hard."

Nicola – who joined the show as Alex Mytton's then-girlfriend in 2015 – then interrupted by saying: "But it's a blessing in disguise, because now you're fully, happily married."

Louise is now happily engaged to former co-star Ryan Libbey, 32, and the pair are parents to one year old Leo-Hunter Libbey together.

Spencer is also a father to Theodore, four, Gigi, two, and baby Otto with his wife Vogue Williams, 37.
