Married At First Sight UK star Adrian Sanderson has shared a moving tribute to his husband Thomas Hartley despite the fact the pair are no longer on speaking terms.
The couple had a rollercoaster ride on the 2022 series of the hit E4 show and while they shared touching moments together, viewers also saw them have numerous heated clashes.
Adrian, 38, and Thomas, 32, split on the show shortly before the final commitment ceremony.
After the reunion aired, Thomas then found himself embroiled in controversy after making “sickening” comments about another co-star’s late father.
Despite the drama, Adrian shared a moving post dedicated to his one-time husband on their anniversary on Instagram.
He wrote: “I was married to an absolute lunatic of a man (his words).
“I have to say I’m quite teary writing this. We had a bumpy ride and the only thing I would ever change is the final outcome.
“I miss him and his energy all the time, I miss him boosting me, singing with me, telling him off for the fake tan of the bedsheets and I actually enjoyed being the calm in his storm.”
Adrian's sweet post featured snaps from him and Thomas's wedding day.
Admitting that fans might find his comments “surprising,” he continued: “I don’t think any man was ever more kind to me in a lot of ways.
“That’s not to say there was a lot of rough with the smooth, but the one thing he did do was build me up and stop me from tearing myself down and it meant the world.
Yes there was tough times and they’re not disregarded, but I hope you all got to see there was a lot of love there for each other and I’ll always cherish that.”
Adrian, a digital designer based in Manchester, added that since appearing on the show he has had “one of the toughest and craziest years of my life with more ups and downs than you could count.”
“And I’m still extremely grateful that we got to go through it together,” he said. “Even though we don’t communicate anymore, I want every happiness for him, every flirt, fancy, emotion, experience and enormous love he can find, and I have no doubt on this earth that he truly wants and wishes the same for me.”
He signed off the post: “Thanks for the ride, it was never boring. Love Adrian. Xx.”
MAFS UK expert Charlene Douglas replied: “Hope you both can connect to clear the air. Two amazing people.”
Fans also sent their well wishes, with one writing: “Of all the couples I’ve watched on mafs you guys stand out as one of my all time favourites!
“Both amazingly beautiful human beings. I was rooting for you guys! Thank you for sharing your journey.”
Thomas soon commented too, simply writing: “Happy anniversary.”
He also shared a short but sweet post on his own Instagram, posting snaps from their wedding day alongside the words: "Happy Anniversary. On this day in 2022 I got married!
"It doesn’t always work out the way you picture it, but I wish Adrian all the best and I hope he goes on and reaches all of his dreams and goals in the future!"
A new series of MAFS UK is currently in production and in the meantime, the latest Australian series is delivering plenty of drama on E4.
Last week’s episodes saw a cheating scandal rip through the couples – and it wasn’t just those who had been unfaithful who faced criticism.
Harrison Boon has also proven to be a controversial figure, facing scrutiny for his ‘acting’ and treatment of wife Bronte Schofield.
