Money Saving Expert Martin Lewis, 48, took to Twitter to reveal to his 1,100,000 followers that he is going on ‘holiday’. However, fans didn’t have to worry about the presenter and his family breaking government restrictions, as Martin revealed their holiday was a one night stay “in the spare room.”

Martin took to social media to announce that he is taking a short break from the platform over half term.

The money saving expert tweeted to his followers: “That’s all folks!

“It’s half term, so I’m signing off work & social media for family time, til my show Thur [Thursday].

Martin continued his tweet, jokingly admitting that he was sharing his “holiday” plans with his followers before he was reported for breaching rules.

The government has set restrictions which says that everyone “must stay at home.”

Martin said: “Before it’s reported, I need declare we are off on holiday!

“We promised mini MSE [Money Saving Expert].

“So for 1 night we’re all going to… stay in the spare room (she’s excited). Take care.”

The presenter’s followers saw the funny side of his Tweet, with one even going as far as to provide recommendations for the host to try out.

They tweeted: “Some reading for you..,” above a picture of Lonely Planet guides, whose titles had been altered to read “The Stairwell, The Bathroom, Locating The Front Door and The Office.”

Another social media user added: “I hear the Costa Del SpareRoom is great this time of year, although I prefer Playa De Sofa”.

Martin’s followers were also quick to come up with ideas to keep children entertained.

One wrote: “Are you going to build a tent with torches? Great fun together.”

While another quipped: “Hope you ordered the turn down service with a chocolate on the pillow she would love that”.

Martin has daughter Sapphire, eight, with wife Lara Lewington, 41 who he married in 2009.

A few days ago it was reportedly revealed that the finance expert and his wife invested £12.5m in an impressive property portfolio.

The pair are said to have donated an incredible £20m to charity over the last eight years.

Martin’s website Moneysavingexpert.com has also helped people in the UK to save their own money with his essential tips.

Martin and Lara have reportedly developed a property empire by investing millions in real estate in towns including Wilmslow and Knutsford in Cheshire.
