Good Morning Britain weather presenter Alex Beresford is no stranger when it comes to defending Meghan Markle, and his latest social media post is no different. The ITV star claimed that the Duchess of Sussex’s “big brother” should thank Meghan for his “Big Brother appearance fee” rather than attacking her on the show.

I hope her Big Brother thanks her for his Big Brother appearance fee.

Alex’s post comes after Thomas Markle Jr, 55, prepared to enter the Australian Big Brother house, branding his sister “shallow”.

However, royal experts claim that Thomas and Meghan, 40, were not in contact for several years before the Duchess of Sussex became a member of the Royal Family following her marriage to Prince Harry.

In the opening trailer for Big Brother, Thomas said he was the “biggest brother of all”, before dismissing his sister.

His comments have certainly angered Alex, 40, who took to his Twitter page to hit out at Thomas Jr.

In view of his 249,700 Twitter followers, he penned: “Man! Are we still talking about Meghan Markle, whilst she is simultaneously getting on with her life.

“In fact, most are getting on with theirs, bar a few who want to keep the narrative going.”

A disgruntled Alex went on to say: “Exhausting! I hope her Big Brother thanks her for his Big Brother appearance fee.”

Many of Alex’s fans appeared to agree with his statement, instantly flocking to the replies to share their thoughts.

“Imagine your only claim to fame being that you are related to someone famous who achieved something with her life,” typed one.

While a second added: “Some people just don’t know when to let it go and leave her alone! She’s getting on with her life, and good for her. She deserves to.”

“It’s no wonder she wants nothing to do with them,” tweeted a third.

Before a fourth penned: “We will bear that in mind Alex when @GMB regurgitates more material on her too! You can’t have it both ways!”

While it is unclear how much Thomas Jr is being paid for his appearance on the Australian programme, he joins the likes of former Olympian and political candidate, Caitlyn Jenner, replacing Katie Hopkins, who was axed from the series last month.

Upon entering the house, Thomas said: “I’m Meghan Markle’s brother, I’m the biggest brother of them all.

“I told Prince Harry, I think she’s going to ruin your life, she’s very shallow.”

The window cleaner sent a letter to Prince Harry, 36, ahead of his wedding to Meghan, telling the Prince it was “not too late” to cancel.

The letter that was published in 2018 by In Touch Magazine went on to see Thomas brand former Suits actress Meghan as a “jaded, shallow, conceited woman”, before adding that their nuptials “will make a joke of you and the Royal Family heritage.”

It continued: “As more time passes to your royal wedding, it became very clear that this is the biggest mistake in royal wedding history.(sic)

“Meghan Markle is obviously not the right woman for you.”

Meghan’s family, including father Thomas Markle and sister Samantha, were notably absent from her wedding, with just her mother Doria Ragland attending the event.
