Meghan Markle makes surprise appearance in video for coffee brand she invested in

Meghan Markle has made a surprise appearance in a video for the wellness coffee brand she is backing.

The Duchess of Sussex, 41, became the first investor in Clevr Blends after she andPrince Harry stepped back from senior royal duties in 2020 and moved toMontecito in California in a bid to find financial independence.

Now, Hannah Mendoza, co-founder and CEO of the company, has shared a video detailing the brand’s origin story, how it has grown, and the important role Meghan has played in its success.

And the Duchess, who once famously gave Clevr Blends as a gift toOprah Winfrey, appears at numerous points in the clip posted on Instagram.

In the video, Hannah discussed how she started the business in 2016.

She said: "People fell in love with the drink and really wanted to make them at home."

She added: “Three years ago, everything changed. None other than Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, had started drinking our lattes.

“Not only did she love the product but she was extremely passionate about female founders and sustainable sourcing.

“Meghan ended up becoming our first investor, advisor and biggest Clevr advocate.

“She even sent our turmeric latte to friends. A few days later, I open my phone to see Oprah herself making our superlatte in our kitchen.

“Our small but mighty team was so not ready for this and ended up selling out for two months.

“We grew our team, launched amazing new products and decided to dip our toe into retail.

“We owe so much of that to women uplifting women….we have big plans for the future.”

Clevr Blends are billed as coffee alternatives, 'packed with probiotics and adaptogens for sustained focus without the crash or jitters'.

Meghan, in a statement released at the time she first invested in the company, said: “This investment is in support of a passionate female entrepreneur who prioritises building community alongside her business.

"I'm proud to invest in Hannah's commitment to sourcing ethical ingredients and creating a product that I personally love and has a holistic approach to wellness. I believe in her and I believe in her company."

Meghan has been keeping a relatively low profile this year compared to her 38 year old husband Prince Harry – whose bombshell bookSpare continues to make headlines around the world.

Just this week,Friends favouriteCourteney Cox broke her silence on the Duke of Sussex’s claim in the memoir that he tookmagic mushrooms at her home.

Spare broke records when it was released in January – with the English language editionselling more than 1.4 million copies on its first day of publication, making it thefastest-selling non-fiction book ever.

The book brought anew round of attacks on the Royal Family – with criticism directed towardsPrince William andQueen Consort Camilla – as well asKing Charles andKate Middleton.
