Michelle Keegan looks unrecognisable as she films new period drama in Australia

Actress Michelle Keegan looked worlds away from her usual glamorous self as she was seen dressed in costume on the set of a new period drama.

The 35 year old, whose husband Mark Wright has been overseeing the renovations of their "dream" £3.5million mansion, is set to star in the BBC's new six-part series, named Ten Pound Poms, and her work has seen her travel to Australia.

The Our Girl actress was spotted on set in what looked like a nurses outfit, in a blue midi dress with a statement white collar.

Her dark hair was swept back away from her face and she wore minimal makeup as she appeared to be playing a nurse in the drama.

At one point she donned a grey tweed overcoat and a velvet beret emblazoned with the letter 'P'.

During scenes, Michelle kept the Australian winter chill at bay with a padded coat and a hot water bottle.

Michelle has been in Australia for the past few months, where she's been documenting her time, including a "solo trip to Cairns" where she posted a snap with an adorable koala bear.

She shared an Instagram Reel of her travels with her 5.9m followers, and captioned the post: "Last weekend I had some time off work so decided to explore more of Australia and took myself on a little solo trip north to Cairns!

"Where I ate, drank, met koalas (yes I bought the photo) took a train journey through the rainforest, wandered through the heritage markets and asked a stranger to take a picture of me.

"I had the most amazing time. Yes travelling alone can be scary but life’s too short to let that fear get in your way!

"Take the trip, make the memories & capture them to remember forever".

Mark recently visited his wife of seven years in Australia and he reflected on how to make long distance work in a marriage, with the pair often spending long stints apart due to their respective careers.

Speaking about their relationship, Mark told MailOnline: “I think both being in the same industry really helps. Because we get each other's careers, and we totally understand it.

“Essentially, we both just want each other to achieve all of our goals and all of our dreams and we just support each other every step of the way for that, you know.”

He then revealed that he, surprisingly, got advice from Piers Morgan on how to navigate long-distance relationships.

Mark said: “You have to learn that you've been together for a long time and not seen each other in three weeks so it's exciting at first but then it goes back to being a 10-year relationship.

“The longer you go, the more pressure there is because the longer it's been. But I was in LA and had a dinner with Piers Morgan and I told him it was hard. He said, 'I had this with my wife and we have a 3 weeks rule so don't let it go past 3 weeks'.”
