When he became the first royal to ever enter the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle at the beginning of the month, Mike Tindall promised to be an “open book”.

And throughout his time Down Under, 44 year old Mike has remained true to his word and has kept his campmates entertained with his amusing stories from life as a member of the royal family.

From how he met his wife Zara while he was playing rugby in Australia to the time he accidentally flashed his mother-in-law Princess Anne, the former sportsman has shared his fair share of anecdotes – but he had never mentioned Prince Harry.

In Thursday's episode, Owen Warner asked whether he knew that Zara was royalty, he said: “Yeah because I know she’s Princess Anne’s daughter. And Princess Anne is patron of Scottish rugby.”

Then when asked if that added to any pressure he may have felt during the early stages of their relationship, Mike went on: “No, because we were friends first, and then William and Harry were massive English fans at the time. So we’d met them numerous times.

“So as things go, I met more of the family than you would normally have met of the family of the woman you start dating.”

This is the first time Mike has mentioned Prince Harry on the show since he entered the jungle a few weeks ago.

Over the years, Mike and Prince Harry have attended many events together, both official engagements and more lowkey events such as sports and private parties.

Cousins Harry and Zara have a close relationship, having been brought up living close by and spending lots of quality time together with their late grandmother Queen Elizabeth II when growing up.

Zara and her husband are not believed to have visited the couple in their LA home, but have been firm advocates and sources of support for the Sussexes since they moved across the pond, with Harry even serving as the godfather to the couple’s youngest daughter, Lena.

The cousins remain in close contact with each other, with Zara’s husband Mike revealing that they communicate important family matters and events via a WhatsApp group.

“Me, my brother and then a few of Zara's side like her brother Pete [Phillips] and the cousins are on WhatsApp groups,” Mike previously revealed to the Daily Mirror. “I wouldn't say we're cutting edge, but it's just easier for some reason on WhatsApp.”

Both Zara and her brother Peter have also served as “peacemakers” between William and Harry in the past, as they tried to build bridges between the feuding brothers at high profile events.

One example of this, was when Prince William, the new Prince of Wales, asked his cousin to stand between himself and his brother at Prince Phillip’s funeral procession in 2021.
