Mike Tindall plants kiss on Princess Anne’s cheek after opening up on hilarious relationship

Mike Tindall planted a cheeky kiss on Princess Anne’s cheek on Wednesday after he earlier opened up on their extremely close relationship.

Mike, 44, who recently enjoyed a lunch date with his I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! BFF Sue Cleaver, attended the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation charity cycle ride on Wednesday alongside his mother-in-law.

The royals seemed in high spirits during the event, with Anne being pictured beaming alongside Mike as they kicked off the event.

In another picture, the Princess Royal could be seen chatting to a penny farthing rider as the pop of colour in her scarf caught the photographer’s attention.

Another picture showed Mike, who is married to Anne’s daughter Zara Tindall, planting a kiss on his mother-in-law’s cheek.

Mike dished on his relationship with Princess Anne during his time in I'm a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here jungle, where he counted Scarlette Douglas, Owen Warner and series champion Jill Scott as his camp mates.

In one hilarious moment, Mike opened up about an embarrassing moment involving Anne.

Mike explained: “I love a suit. My problem with suits is I over exaggerate dancing at weddings… I rip a lot of suits, trousers and stuff.”

“Course you do,” comedian Seann Walsh laughed, as Mike continued: “The old sl*t drop gets me every time. I went to a wedding, ripped a suit, they were like, ‘Oh my god, what are you going to do?’ I was like, ‘Don’t worry I’ve got a spare.’

"They were like, ‘Who brings a spare suit?’ Someone who rips a lot of trousers brings a spare suit.”

Mike continued: “Zara had like a 30th birthday, it was a disco '70s-themed one, I was dancing on the dance floor, I had like flares on, full outfit but it was quite tight, nothing ever fits – rugby player’s bum and legs – so I was dancing with my mother-in-law and I did a sl*t drop in front of my mother-in-law.

“Ripped my trousers, straight in front of her. It happened to be that my boxers that I had on at that time said ‘nibble my nuts’.

“As I’ve turned round, she’s gone, ‘I’d rather not.’ I’ve gone, ‘I’m going’ and walked off.”

Wednesday's event marked the start of the Doddie Cup Ride, a 555-mile journey in support of the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation, set up by Scottish Rugby Union player Doddie Weir after his his diagnosis with motor neurone disease.

Doddie, who Mike knew thanks to his own rugby career, devastatingly died last November while the Royal was in the I'm A Celeb jungle.

Yesterday afternoon, Anne, 72, presented the Scotland vs Wales Six Nations match ball at Gloucester Rugby Club ahead of the cup, which kicks off on 11 February.

Rob Wainwright, Weir’s Scotland and British & Irish Lions teammate, received the ball from the Royal and will lead the 200-strong riding group from Cardiff.

Anne will receive the ball again on Saturday when it arrives at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh.
