Monty Don regularly interacts with viewers on social media and keeps his fans posted on his upcoming projects and day-to-day life. The Gardeners’ World presenter recently revealed he has been busy recording his audiobook for his latest books My Garden World and American Gardens.
The 65-year-old has since reacted to a Twitter user who questioned the gardening expert about his latest move.
The horticulturalist revealed the difficulties he has experienced over the past few days.
It comes after the BBC favourite revealed he had finally completed his first audiobook.
In view of his 224,000 followers, Monty penned: “My Garden World audio book now all read and recorded and will be available on July 1st.”
A viewer quizzed: “I am a huge fan of audio books as I get to ‘read’ even when I don’t have time to, but I often wonder how difficult the process of recording one actually is. Pray tell…”
Monty explained that recording his audiobook was not a difficult process but had been “demanding” on him.
He wrote: “Not so much difficult as demanding. Try reading your favourite book out loud for eight hours a day for 3 days and stop to correct every fluff, stumble, mispronounciation or lack of clarity or energy. Other than that, easy peasy.”
His comments come after the much-loved gardener told fans that he was taking a short break away from Gardeners’ World.
The gardening expert revealed that a replacement will be taking the reins to front the BBC show.
Earlier this week, Monty tweeted: “Having been delayed by a year due to Covid I am off today (and for the next four days) to a studio to read ‘My Garden World’ as an audio book.”
A worried fan quizzed: “Back in time for Gardeners World I hope!”
Monty confirmed that his co-host Adam Frost will be hosting the BBC show during his time off.

He replied: “No – Adam will take the helm to cover.”
Gardeners’ World is filmed a week in advance, however, so viewers will still see Monty helming the show this week but not on May 7.
Elsewhere, Monty revealed that he has had his second jab as the horticulturalist admitted he was “profoundly grateful”.
Taking to the micro-blogging site, he penned a heartfelt message which received widespread praise from his followers.
Monty wrote: “I had my second jab this morning (Astra Zeneca) and am profoundly grateful for both that and the incredible efficiency, friendliness and sheer competence of all involved. Thank you.”
Fans were quick to respond, as one person wrote: “Had my second two weeks ago. Couldn’t fault their professionalism. NHS at its best.”
Another wrote: “Hats off to the volunteers.”
Gardeners’ World airs tonight on BBC Two at 9pm.
