Supermodel Naomi Campbell has praised her friend and fellow supermodel, Kate Moss, for defending her ex-boyfriend Johnny Depp in his blockbuster trial against his ex-wife Amber Heard.
Naomi, 52, took to Instagram to post a screenshot of a MailOnline article which reported on Kate’s testimony that her former boyfriend Johnny, 58, “never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs”.
At the bottom of the screenshot, Naomi wrote: “YES WAGON [presumably a nickname she has for Kate] TELL IT!!!”, with a number of fire and heart emojis, and tagging Kate’s official Instagram page.
Model Kate, 48, appeared via video link to the Fairfax County District Court in Virginia on Wednesday, where she disputed Amber’s claims that Johnny had pushed her down the stairs whilst they were dating.
World-famous supermodel Kate and Edward Scissorhands actor Johnny were the ultimate 90’s couple in their heyday, and they dated from 1994 to 1998.
Kate was called to the virtual stand on Wednesday to describe an incident when the pair were on holiday in Jamaica when they were dating, after Amber claimed she "heard a rumour" Kate was pushed down the stairs by Johnny.
Kate spoke via video link from her mansion in Gloucestershire, where she was acting as a rebuttal witness after Amber alleged that Depp had “[swung] at” her sister while she stood at the top of a staircase, saying it reminded her of another incident in which she alleged that Johnny had pushed Kate down stairs whilst they were dating.
Kate denied the incident had ever happened, telling the court: "We were leaving the room and Johnny left the room before I did.
"There had been a rainstorm and as I left the room I slid down the stairs. I hurt my back. And I screamed because I didn't know what had happened.”
She said Depp came running back to help her and "carried me to my room and got me medical attention”.
When Kate was asked if Depp ever pushed her down the stairs, she replied no.
Kate said: "He never pushed me, kicked me or threw me down any stairs.”
Due to Amber’s claims in court, Johnny’s lawyers were able to call Kate to the stand, whereas they wouldn’t have been able to before.
Entertainment lawyer Mitra Ahouraian told the New York Post: "That's one mistake that [Heard] made, was bringing up Kate Moss, which potentially opened the door to [Depp’s team] bringing [Moss] on as an impeachment witness.”
Kate and Naomi Campbell have long been friends and allies after they were considered some of the world’s biggest supermodels back in the 90’s, however, both have continued to retain their crowns as successful models since.
