Owen Wilson, 52, has candidly shared some insight into his recovery after his suicide attempt in 2007. The Loki actor opened up about how his brother helped him through this time in a moving interview.

Owen is well known as a Hollywood funny man appearing in films like Zoolander and Marley and Me.

Although, the actor has now candidly opened up about a dark period in his life.

In August 2007, Owen was admitted to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles after a suicide attempt.

His brother Luke Wilson found him at his Santa Monica home and called the emergency services.

Owen has shared how his other brother Andrew Wilson would not leave his side during his recovery.

The actor explained how Andrew “stayed in his house with him” after his attempt.

Interviewer Ryan D’Agostino shared in Esquire how Owen recalled Andrew “rising with him each morning” as he wrote up “little schedules for each day”

Owen admitted he didn’t want to talk in-depth about this time in his life in the chat with publication.

However, he did add how this helped life seem “manageable and then, at some point, a long time later, actually good.”

The actor also shared a view of life through the lens of film in the interview.

He said: “Sometimes it seems like life is being played by Gene Hackman in Hoosiers. Tough but fair.

“He’s going to demand a lot, but if you play as a team and do your job, things work out.

“That’s a good feeling. Things make sense.

“But of course sometimes life seems to be played by Tom Hardy in The Revenant, some nightmarish guy trying to kill you, where even if you get the upper hand, he’s still going to be there at the end whispering, ‘This ain’t gonna bring your boy back’ or your dad back or any good times from your past back.

“Or whatever. And when life’s being played by that guy, you just gotta hang on and wait for it to pass.”

Owen recently took on the role of Mobius in the Disney+ series Loki.

Starring opposite Tom Hiddleston, viewers fell in love with his quirky character.

The series has been renewed for a second season and is expected to see Owen return.

As well as this, the actor is one of the stars of Wes Anderson’s latest films The French Dispatch.

The pair are long-time collaborators and close friends.

Owen appears in the film alongside Hollywood stars like

Timothée Chalamet, Bill Murray and Frances McDormand.
