Pop star Lily Allen, 37, axes album of songs shaming her alleged abusers ‘to avoid heartache’

Pop star Lily Allen is to scrap an album of songs detailing her alleged abuse by music industry figures, fearing it might cause her ‘more heartache’.

Sources close to the singer said the prospect of reliving historical incidents could trigger further torment, which Ms Allen felt was no longer ‘worth it’.

Her decision was also swayed by the successful career she has forged as an actress since her West End stage debut in 2:22 A Ghost Story last year and demand for her as a muse to top fashion labels, including Dior and Fendi.

A source said: ‘Releasing the album would mean raking up a lot of hurt, many difficult times and lots of very sad memories for Lily. Now she has moved on to become so successful in other areas of showbusiness, it doesn’t seem worth it to her any more. She is in love and has transformed her life.’ The source said there would be ‘some very relieved men out there who no longer have to worry about the album coming out’.

Ms Allen, 37, who is married to actor David Harbour, star of Netflix’s Stranger Things, wanted to use the album to turn the tables on her alleged abusers. The title of each track was to be the first name of an accused man. The Mail on Sunday reported last August how one was planning to challenge the claims if the album came out.
