Popular guitarist dies age 26 after ‘constant brain fog’ as bandmates pay tribute

Australian guitarist Ryan Siew has tragically at the age of 26. Ryan was best known for being the guitarist in the upcoming Australian metalcore band Polaris.

It is believed that Ryan passed away on June 19, as his bandmates have taken to Instagram to share touching tributes. Jamie Hails, Rick Schneider, Jake Steinhauser, and Daniel Furnari said: "For ten incredible years, he was our best friend and artistic soulmate.

"Those years will never be enough. He was kindhearted and clever, he was funny and brave and creative, and he was talented beyond all measure. He loved art and beauty in all its forms."

They added: "He was also much admired and beloved by so many.

"Ryan, we will love and miss you for the rest of our days, and we will never fill the hole that you leave in all of our lives."

The details about his death are undisclosed.

The statement on social media sparked thousands of messages from fans and musicians. One tweeted to say: "This is heartbreaking, I’m so sorry. Rest in peace Ryan, your music will live forever."

Another fan said: "I am so sorry he will truly be missed. What an incredible guy and artist. Sending love."

While another was left devastated saying: "Shattering news such a talented wholesome soul. May he rest in peace."

"I am so so so so sorry guys.. He was an incredible artist and I know he was an incredible man" added another heartbroken fan.

While another said: "So so sorry to hear this, this is absolutely heartbreaking. RIP to a legend."

Ryan's shock death comes just months after he shared details about a recent trip to the hospital. He shared a snap of him in a hospital bed telling his followers: "I’m happy to say I’m no longer on any anti-depressants, no longer living with the constant brain fog and lethargy."


In 2017 the band released their debut album called The Mortal Coil. Then in 2020, Polaris released their second album, The Death of Me.

Polaris' type of music is called metalcore which is a mix of heavy metal and hardcore punk.
