Prince Charles Visits the Queen at Windsor Castle Following Prince Philip’s Death

Prince Charles has paid the queen a visit at Windsor Castle to comfort the 94-year-old monarch in the aftermath of Prince Philip’s passing, sources close to the Prince of Wales tell BAZAAR.com. Philip was Charles’s father and the queen’s husband of 73 years.

The queen and Prince Philip had been residing at Windsor Castle throughout the bulk of the COVID-19 pandemic rather than their usual residence at Buckingham Palace. Windsor is where the Duke of Edinburgh peacefully passed away early Friday morning.

Buckingham Palace broke the news of the Duke of Edinburgh’s death today with a solemn statement which was shared on the royal family’s various social media accounts, including the Clarence House and Kensington Palace Instagram and Twitter pages.

“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh,” the palace announced. “His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle. Further announcements will be made in due course. The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”
