Prince Harry fans are eagerly anticipating the release of his memoir due for release next year – but it seems they may be getting more a fix than first expected.

It has been reported that Harry has signed a lucrative four-book deal with publishers Penguin Random House worth up to a whopping £29million.

Sources say Harry's second book will not be released until after the death of The Queen, and that his wife, Meghan Markle, will write a release a wellness guide as part of the deal.

A fourth book is also believed to be in the pipeline, but the author and subject of is unknown thus far.

A source told MailOnline that Harry's memoir, which is due to hit shelves in late 2022, is the "tip of the iceberg".

They added: "The final contract was actually for a four-book deal, with Harry writing one 'when his granny dies'.

"Meghan will write a wellness-type book and people are unsure what the fourth will be. But what is most shocking, frankly, is Harry's suggestion that the second book won't be published until the Queen is no longer here.

"People [will] start asking 'what has he got, who is he going to target?' The very idea of this unexploded bomb, hanging about waiting for the Queen to pass, is just extraordinary and may strike many as being in very bad taste."

It is believed that Harry oversaw the negotiations for the bidding war amongst publishers, and was not willing to accept less than £18million.

The source continued: "He conducted negotiations – he had a very 'take it or leave it' attitude.

"His starting price was $25million (£18million) and the final figure was way north of that, possibly as much as $35-40million (£25-29million).

"Those involved were actually very shocked by his approach, which was to look at them coldly and state his demands – $25million.

"In Britain, publishing is still a rather 'gentlemanly' industry. It's high stakes, but is still conducted in very genteel terms."

Earlier this week, royal expert Katie Nicholl told OK! how Harry's brother Prince William will see the book deal as his younger sibling "cashing in" on royalty.

She said: "The news of Harry's book will probably have driven a further wedge between them and heightened the perception that Harry is cashing in on the very thing he said he wouldn't cash in on, which is his royalty.

"Who knows what damage this might potentially cause the family? On one hand, you've got Harry saying he wants to move on and have a relationship with them, and on the other he is deliberately courting controversy."
