Princess Eugenie shares her joy and is ‘so proud’ of sister Beatrice as she welcomes baby girl

Princess Eugenie has shared her delight over her sister Princess Beatrice welcoming her first child with husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi.

Buckingham Palace announced today that Beatrice, 33, gave birth to a baby girl weighing 6lbs 2oz at 11.42pm on Saturday at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, in London.

Princess Eugenie took to Instagram to share her delight at her sisters news, welcoming her first niece.

The post was accompanied with a lovely photo of Beatrice and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi beaming while standing beside a waterfall.

She wrote: "To my dearest Beabea and Edo⁣. Congratulations on your new angel. I can't wait to meet her and I'm so proud of you.

"We're going to have so much fun watching our children grow up. Love Euge."

She continued: "To my new niece . I love you already and think you're just awesome from the photos.. we're going to have so much fun ⁣together.

"Love your Auntie Euge."

This is the Queen’s 12th great-grandchild and 11th in line to the throne and Her Majesty is 'delighted with the news', the palace announced in a statement.

Since only grandchildren of the Monarch through the male line are given titles, Princess Beatrice's baby girl will be known as Miss Mapelli Mozzi.

Buckingham Palace said in a statement: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.

"The baby weighs six pounds and two ounces. The new baby's grandparents and great-grandparents have all been informed and are delighted with the news.

"The family would like to thank all the staff at the hospital for their wonderful care. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well, and the couple are looking forward to introducing their daughter to her big brother Christopher Woolf."

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall congratulated Beatrice and Edoardo on Twitter writing: "Congratulations to Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on the happy news of the birth of their daughter."

Princess Beatrice also announced the news across her own social media platforms today as she tweeted the news: "So delighted to share the news of the safe arrival of our daughter on Saturday 18th September 2021, at 23.42, at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London."

She added: "Thank you to the Midwife team and everyone at the hospital for their wonderful care."
