Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas celebrate Holi at home in London with ‘loved ones’

COVID-19 safety protocols mean Holi can’t be celebrated as usual this year, but Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Nick Jonas aren’t letting that stop them from bringing the fun home.

“Holi, the festival of colours is one of my favourites,” Chopra Jonas wrote in an Instagram post Sunday from her home in London. She, husband Jonas and his parents were dressed in white and covered pink, orange, blue and yellow powder.

“Hope we can all celebrate it with our loved ones, but in our HOMES! #HappyHoli everyone,” Chopra Jonas added.

Holi marks the advent of spring and is widely celebrated throughout Hindu-majority India. Most years, millions of people throw colored powder at each other in outdoor celebrations. But for the second consecutive year, people were encouraged to stay at home to avoid turning the festivities into superspreader events amid the latest virus surges – during spring break travels, 34 states have reported rising COVID-19 counts. Over the past week, U.S. cases have spiked 16.2% from the week prior, according to Johns Hopkins data.

Mindy Kaling recalled being “so excited” for Chopra Jonas’ 2020 Holi party – “and then the world got shut down,” she commented on the actress’ post.

“Holi 2022 perhaps,” Kaling wrote.

The Jonases weren’t the only family getting festive at home: “Top Chef” host and author Padma Lakshmi shared a fun video Sunday tossing colorful powder in her backyard with her 11-year-old daughter, Krishna Lakshmi-Dell.

Happy Holi everyone,” Lakshmi wrote on Instagram with a series of rainbow-colored hearts. “More than ever before we need a rebirth, a renewal, a chance to begin to heal, to savor what we couldn’t for so long- to start again. Fresh. I hope that everyone is safe, getting vaccinated as soon as possible, and can begin to live as we all deserve to.”
