Professional Golfer Gene Siller Killed in Gun Incident During Country Club Golf Course

Siller is said to be approaching a white pickup truck that drove onto the 10th hole that ended up in a sand trap at Kennesaw’s Pinetree Country Club before the driver suddenly opened fired.

AceShowbiz -Professional golfer Gene Siller died in a shooting incident on Saturday afternoon, July 3. According to 11 Alive, the athlete was shot and killed while on a country club golf course in Georgia. He was 41.

The news outlet claimed that Siller was about to check a white pickup truck that drove onto the 10th hole before ending up in a sand trap at Kennesaw’s Pinetree Country Club. However, when he approached the vehicle, the driver suddenly opened fired. A witness said that there were five gunshots in a row.

“Then nothing went on, and immediately members reacting like, ‘I think there might be gunshots’ and then apparently somebody was down on the ground,” the witness shared. “Then it was kind of like a frenzy, everyone was trying to figure out what was going on.”

Siller’s body was later found on the green of the 10th hole by police. As for the truck, it was discovered with two men inside. Both of them died from gunshot wounds. Motive of the attack remains unclear as of Sunday night and an investigation has been launched by Cobb County Police.

It was said that Siller, who also served as an assistant professional at St. Ives Country Club, would regularly compete in Georgia PGA Section golf tournaments since 2007. In the wake of his passing, Georgia PGA issued a statement which read, “Tragedy has stricken the Georgia Section PGA in the loss of our Member, Gene Siller. Thoughts and prayers for his family and the Pinetree Country Club family.”

Meanwhile, Georgia State Golf Association wrote on Twitter, “All of us at the GSGA are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred earlier today at Pinetree CC. Our thoughts and prayers are with Gene Siller’s family and friends.”

Siller is survived by a wife and two children. A GoFundMe has been created and raised over #100,000 to help his family.
