Robert Downey Jr to give away vintage cars from personal collection

Oppenheimer cast walk out of UK premiere ahead of announcement

Robert Downey Jr. is giving away six of his most prized cars in a charity collaboration to raise money for environmental causes.

The vintage vehicles have each been eco-modified to “drive to a pollution-free future”, and fans across the United States, UK and Canada can enter.

The 58-year-old is partnering with the Edward Charles Foundation to back his own nonprofit, FootPrint Coalition.

The environmentally friendly cars up for grabs include a convertible 1965 Chevrolet Corvette with a beige convertible roof and matte navy blue paint job, currently valued at around £200,000.

There is also a 1966 Buick Riviera which Robert claims is a “future version of itself” after 2,225 hours of modifications.

Robert is also giving away his mother’s own car, a 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SE, that has had a sage green paint job with golden detailing, reportedly now valued at £100,000.

The last three cars the Iron Man star is dishing out are a 1972 Chevrolet K10 Pickup, a 1972 VW Bus and 1985 Chevrolet El Camino which combined have over 10,000 modification hours behind them to make them all more eco-friendly.

Promoting the “dream cars sweepstakes” on his Instagram page, the Oppenheimer actor made a hilarious short silent film pointing fans toward the official website where all the rules, regulations, and ways to enter can be found.

Later, the Hollywood icon also shared a reminder on his Instagram story as he basked in the sunshine in front of the fleet of vehicles he’s giving away.

Robert assured fans they don’t have to purchase or donate anything in order to enter, and insisted: “Making one will not increase chances of winning.”

There are three ways fans can enter the sweepstakes which can all be viewed, along with the giveaway’s official rules, on the RDJ Dream Cars Sweepstakes website.

The first way to enter involves making a donation to the FootPrint Coalition with a variety of amounts to choose, from £8 for 10 entries to £3,998 for 8,500 entries.

Fans can also enter by purchasing eligible merchandise with the total of ones basket at checkout earning them a certain amount of entries ranging from 40 entries for £50-£100 spend to 600 entries for £901-£1,000 spend.

Despite these being the main ways fans can enter the sweepstakes, Robert’s claims on Instagram are still true.

To get 60 entries without making a purchase or donation, fans can mail their handprint on a 4” x 6” postcard to the relevant address depending on their country, all of which can be found on the official website.
