Roman Kemp to go on ultimate final lads’ holiday before life-changing decision

Capital FM DJ Roman Kemp is planning on touring the Deep South in America before he and his friends start holidaying with their partners.

The 30-year-old presenter, who is believed to be single after his last public relationship with Anne-Sophie Flury ended in 2020, shared he wants one last lads’ holiday with his pals before they all settle down.

The One Show host divulged in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk: “Me and my lads, we always go on holiday each year with each other.

“We’ve been mates since we were seven years old. There are five of us and this year, we’re all 30 so this could be one of the last holidays before people start going with partners and whatnot and we were like, ‘what are we going to do?’.

“So we’re going to do a tour of the deep south in America.

“I’ve got two weeks off from radio and I’m going to spend those two weeks driving around Texas and all these places.”

Roman went on to explain how they all agreed upon their destination.

The star recalled: “We all jumped on a Zoom call and we had to present a PDF application, including music and slides, about where we wanted to go. And whoever gave the best pitch won and that was me.

“I took them on a journey. It’s a massive thing for me – being able to do that with your mates. I don’t think there’s anything better in life than being able to travel. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Roman also revealed his biggest fear is missing out on important experiences and being left with regrets at the end of his life.

He said: “I’ve had a lot of moments in my life where a lot comes into perspective and one of my biggest fears….I have a real big fear that at the end of my life I’m like, ‘what have I actually seen?’

“So I’ve been ticking off….every time I go on holiday I want to go somewhere I’ve never been before.”

Roman was speaking as part of a new campaign by Virgin Media O2 in which he appears in a tongue-in-cheek airplane safety style video, playing the part of a pilot, a boisterous cabin steward, an air traffic controller, and a disgruntled passenger.

In the video, he cheekily warns holidaymakers about the costs they could face this summer if they don’t have free roaming as part of their mobile plan.

It comes as over half of Brits (53%) said they don’t know if their mobile provider will charge roaming fees this summer, with six in 10 disappointed to see the return of roaming charges in European countries last year.

O2 is the only major network to offer inclusive EU roaming.

Roman said: “I think, like everyone, we’ve all struggled with the data stuff.

“I like to think I’m affected by the same issues. We all get that text when we’ve arrived in another country and you’re using your phone and it’s like ‘oh my god, I’ve just spent £67 in two minutes’.

“It was fun. I got the chance to go on a real airplane.”

Roman Kemp has teamed up with Virgin Media O2 for their new campaign to warn holiday makers about roaming charges this summer. It comes as O2 are the only major network not reintroducing roaming fees in the EU up to 25GB.
