Rupert Grint Didn't Know How to Spend His Harry Potter Earnings So He Bought Alpacas: 'It Was Chaos'

Rupert Grint is a famous actor who started his career when he was 11 years old. Most fans remember him from the Harry Potter films. The series was a big part of his life, and he had a bit of a reputation on set.

After the popular franchise ended, Grint continued acting in works like Sick Note. The star has been up to other pursuits besides entertainment. Currently, he is investing his money in real estate.

Rupert Grint’s role in ‘Harry Potter’ and net worth

For all eight films, Grint portrayed the lovable Ron Weasley. His character was the best friend of the main protagonist, Harry Potter. Later, Ron gets married to Hermione, and viewers last see them as grown adults with children.

For 10 years, Grint worked on each film until the final one hit theaters in 2011. The actor felt like he was suffocating at the time while filming. Each year, Grint would return to the same sets, and it felt a bit repetitive.

As a result, Grint has only seen one Harry Potter film so far. He saw the first installment in the franchise. Enough time has passed for him to feel detached from the younger boy on screen. Nevertheless, he did have some great moments.

According to Celebrity Net Worth, Grint earned $70 million for the entire saga. He obtained $4 million for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. He got a combined total of $30 million for the Deathly Hallows movies. Grint’s net worth is $50 million, making him the least wealthy of the other two leads.

Rupert Grint once owned several farm animals

In 2007, Grint ranked No.16 on the Top Earners under Age 25. He admitted in 2018 that he had no idea how much money he had. The award-winning actor ended up with more wealth than he knew what to do with and spent some of it on things like charity.

Grint appeared as a guest on Armchair Expert, and he talked about buying a bunch of farm animals. Some of them included alpacas and pigs. He was a teenager at the time, so his personal farm began to be too much for him to handle.

“I had alpacas, pigs. It was a whole thing. Around 16 [years old] … It was chaos. Alpacas are insane… Now looking back, in hindsight, rationalizing it. They’re not with me anymore. They went to a responsible alpaca farmer. I guess I just did stupid things like that … I’m one of five, and we had a field. But nowadays I’m a lot more sensible. I haven’t done anything mad like that in a while,” Grint explained.

Rupert Grint invested his money in real estate

Investing in farm animals did not pan out the way Grint thought it would originally. Instead, he moved on to pursue real estate. Over the years, he has bought and sold multiple homes for millions of dollars. The 32-year-old actor is sitting on a real estate empire.

The Sun reports that Grint is selling a five-bedroom house for £850,000, or over $1.17 million. Two other properties on the market are in a Hertfordshire suburb. They are worth an estimated $1 million. Grint has bought three properties near his home village, which have a combined value of over $12.6 million.

According to The U.S. Sun, Grint has an English manor in the countryside. The home was built in the 18th century, and it comes with 22.6 acres of land and a lake. Grint paid $6.8 million for the mansion, and he is selling it for $7.5 million.
