Sam Faiers has sent sister Billie Shepherd a sweet message of support after the star was forced to pull out of Dancing on Ice due to a head injury.

Billie, 31, was forced to pull out of the competition this weekend following a nasty fall.

Sam has now praised her sister in a lengthy tribute posted on Instagram.

The 30 year old wrote: “Billie. you have made us so incredibly proud. The past few weeks have been really tough. You have shown the most strength I’ve ever seen. When you called yesterday telling me that you had to leave the competition my heart sunk.”

Sam continued: “I knew how much this meant to you, especially after nanny passed last week you were so determined and passionate to make nanny proud. Unfortunately you had a terrible accident that resulted in the show making the decision for you to step down.

“Don’t worry about anything sister you put your all into this competition, you. completely took yourself out of your comfort zone (I still can’t believe it )

“Your first live solo dance myself & mummy took the iPad into hospital so nanny could see you dance.”

It makes me feel so happy knowing nanny got to see you dance keep smiling sister I love you so much. Thank you Mark for being so supportive and such a kind friend to Billie. A friend I know she will cherish forever x.”

Billie’s exit was confirmed by a Dancing On Ice spokesperson earlier this week. An ITV spokesperson explained: “During rehearsals for this week's show, Billie Shepherd has had a fall.

"Taking the expert advice of the Dancing On Ice medical team, she sadly cannot perform this weekend and will therefore now withdraw from the competition.

"We wish Billie well as she now takes the time to rest and recover."

Speaking on her own Instagram, Billie shared her sadness at having to quit the show.

The mum-of-two wrote: “Our first and last dance. I am so so sad that our @dancingonice journey has come to an end after an accident in rehearsals on Friday causing me a head injury, forcing us out of the competition.

“@markhanretty A true friend for life, you have been the most incredible partner throughout all of this, I mean you taught me to skate for one thank you for being so kind, supportive, patient, understanding, and thank you for being such a happy, positive person when I needed it the most it’s been a tough couple of weeks personally for me and coming back to skating this week has really been a great distraction.

“I am so so gutted we can’t perform tonight, we worked so so hard on this week’s routine. However, although it has sadly been cut short , being part of @dancingonice has been the best experience, I have met some wonderful people and I actually feel quite proud of myself that I pushed myself so far out of my comfort zone and faced some of my biggest fears.”

Billie continued: “I’m going to miss being part of this incredible show so much. I wish all of the rest of cast so much luck and I will be cheering you all on every Sunday, you are all amazing !!!

“Thank you to everyone for your kind messages and support throughout all of this. It means so much to me and I am so grateful.”
