Sara Cox reveals Camp Bestival vow renewal with husband was ‘a joke’

Sara Cox has revealed that her vow renewal with husband Ben Cyzer at Camp Bestival was "a joke thing" after being congratulated by fans online.

The 47 year old broadcaster shared an image of herself in a wedding dress at the festival in August while Ben stood beside her in a leopard print suit.

But the BBC Radio 2 presenter has now admitted all was not as it seems in an exclusive interview with OK!

She said: "I feel like I need to explain this, I don't think I made it very clear in that post. It's just a joke thing that you do at Camp Bestival.

"So you just sign up, we signed up like the day before. I mean, if you look at what I'm wearing, it's an inflatable church the DJ was called Jesus.

"Next to the inflatable church was a little marquee that had all these old wedding dresses, like these really manky wedding dresses, because obviously it's a festival."

She continued: "They've been worn by hundreds of people before. So I just shoved mine on over my shorts.

"I thought people would understand from the posts that it was… I mean, my husband had a leopard print shirt on.

"And three of us renewed our vows together and two of the grooms had red polka dot jackets on.

"My husband's best mate had a Donald Duck cap. So we presumed people realised, but yeah, it was really fun to do that at Bestival."

Sharing the news with fans on Instagram at the time, Sara shared photos of the event, writing: "We renewed our vows with our best besti buddies @campbestivalshropshire …and the bride wore satin & carried a can of Stella."

Sara's followers congratulated her in the comments, with comedian Sarah Millican writing: "Glorious."

Jules Von Hep wrote: "This is SENSATIONAL WORK SIS!", while Gethin Jones posted a few laughing emojis and added: "Can of Stella!"

Meanwhile, Sara is supporting YuMove's new range of Dental Care Sticks for dogs, in which she uploaded a photo of herself with false rotting teeth to shed light on the importance of dental care for dogs.

She said of the reaction: "Well, a lot of people erroneously were like, 'Wow, I did wonder'. They were like, 'We thought you managed to keep those gnashers hidden for for years,' thinking they were my actual teeth. So yeah, it did the trick.

"I quite like a bit of dressing up so I was all for it. I used to like on my Big Breakfast days where I'd be occasionally wearing a beard. So I like a bit of that can poke fun at myself.

"But I guess the message behind it was quite serious that we look after our own teeth and we've got to look after our pets as well."
