Sarah Harding is set to release a previously unheard song this week, with all profits going to the hospital that is taking care of her during her cancer treatment.

The 39 year old announced last August that she had been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer, more recently saying the disease has now moved to her lungs, brain and spine.

In her heartbreaking autobiography, Hear Me Out, Sarah revealed that doctors have devastatingly told her that Christmas 2020 will probably have been her last.

Former Girls Aloud singer Sarah has now announced the release of the song, which will be available at midnight on Thursday.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by her fan site Sarah Harding Addicts, who promised fans would "absolutely love" the "amazing" song.

They wrote to their 13,200 followers: "Sarah was going through her archives while writing her book Hear Me Out and came across the song Wear It Like A Crown which she had recorded a decade earlier.

"She had always loved the song and asked her team if there was any way to release it for fun.

"Any profit from the single release will go to The Christie NHS Foundation who have taken such brilliant care of Sarah and many others."

Sarah is the only member of Girls Aloud not to release a solo album but did release a single named Threads in 2015, which failed to chart.

The announcement comes just days after a fan campaign saw a Girls Aloud album track from 2004 soar to number one on the iTunes chart.

Hear Me Out – which is the title of her autobiography – was written by Sarah for the band's second album What Will The Neighbours Say?

Sarah said of the fans' efforts: "I can't thank everyone enough for all the kind and loving messages that I've received since the weekend."

Nicola Roberts said: "This is amazing! Thankyou for doing this for Sarah. To be able to tell her this is so special."

Girls Aloud achieved chart success after winning Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 until they went on hiatus in 2009, racking up a record breaking 20 consecutive top 10 singles.

They returned in 2012 with a number two single Something News and a top 10 greatest hits album, Ten.
