Heartbroken Scarlett Moffatt has vowed to be there for mum Betty as she gets help in her battle with gambling addiction.

It emerged earlier this month that the 50-year-old stole thousands of pounds from her TV presenter daughter’s bank account to fund her habit.

A source has revealed to new magazine that Betty – who works for Scarlett and has been described by the star as her “mamager” – confessed after losing a fortune online during lockdown.

Now, Scarlett and the rest of the family are rallying round after she checked into rehab.

“Betty is still getting therapy and the family are giving her the support she needs,” new's source said.

“Scarlett has done tons of research on online gambling and addiction. She wants to be as clued up as possible to help.

"She’s devastated her mum’s addiction has been made so public and just wants her to recover. "

They added: "Scarlett and Betty are so close and they’re determined for some good to emerge from this heartbreaking situation.”

Betty featured in Gogglebox with Scarlett and has worked for her since she was crowned Queen of the Jungle on I’m A Celebrity in 2016.

In August last year, Scarlett wrote Betty a heartfelt message to her to mark her birthday, saying, “Happy birthday to my Mam, my best friend, my mamager.

“I love you all the world and feel very lucky to have you by my side each day. I know your weekend is going to be full of wit, laughs, drag queens and Prosecco.”

Scarlett, 30, previously hinted that she was going through a tough time as she reflected on 2020 on New Year’s Eve.

“Can’t bloody wait to say goodbye to 2020,” she wrote on Facebook. “The worst year ever for many different reasons.”

The source said, “Scarlett’s stepped up to be there for Betty and do what it takes to pull her through. It’s obviously been tough on everyone, but her hope is that they can get through this and use this experience to help others in a similar situation.”

Scarlett’s representative declined to comment.
