Spanish professional golfer Sergio Garcia’s other half Angela Akins, 35, has made it clear that she won’t tolerate any booing from American fans at the Ryder Cup 2021. Angela, who was born in Texas, didn’t shy away from issuing a warning to any “embarrassing” USA fans planning to heckle the players in Wisconsin at the 43rd Ryder Cup.

Although golf is traditionally a quieter game than other sports are, American fans have a reputation for being more vocal during the tournament.

Angela recently recalled a time when she stood up to the boo-boys when the tournament was last held in America in 2016, at Minnesota’s Hazeltine National Golf Club.

Angela, who played golf at the University of Texas and worked as a reporter for the Golf Channel, told CNN that the rowdy fans didn’t know who she was at the time.

She told CNN: “I said to them: ‘I’m here supporting the European team, I’m an American, and you’re embarrassing me’.

“The people around us joined in and said; ‘Yeah you’re embarrassing us too!’

“I said to the guys, ‘I want to see American fans being better than that,’ and they said okay, then later on they saw me.

“They’d figured out who I was, and they came over and gave me a hug and apologised.”

Despite appreciating the apology at the time, Angela insisted she won’t allow any insults to be aimed at the players this year.

Speaking to the media outlet ahead of the Ryder Cup 2021, she warned: “I understand cheering for your team but let’s leave the insults out.”

Angela and Sergio tied the knot in 2017 and celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in June.

Sergio has played in every European Ryder Cup team, apart from one, since 1999.

The sportsman is the all-time Ryder Cup points leader.

This year’s tournament is taking place one year on from when it was originally scheduled to take place, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

In addition to being a part of six wins with his team, the professional golfer won the Masters Tournament in the same year he and Angela got married.

The year afterwards, the couple welcomed a daughter, named Azalea.

Last year, Angela gave birth to their son Enzo.

She announced the news about their bundle of joy on social media and thanked her husband.

Alongside a picture of her two children sleeping, she wrote: “My precious babies!

“Thank you @thesergiogarcia for making me the happiest wife and mommy in the world.

“You’re the best husband a girl could ask for, and you gave me these two perfect blessings.

“Love you! #AzaleaGarcia #EnzoGarcia

“Enzo Akins Garcia. Born April 10, 2020,” she signed off.
