Strictly’s Shirley Ballas rules out marriage with boyfriend and has stopped being ‘pushy’

Shirley Ballas has shared that she's ruled out marriage with her boyfriend Danny Taylor and has stopped being "pushy".

The Strictly Come Dancing head judge, 62, appeared on Loose Women on Wednesday, where she spoke about her "beautiful relationship" with her boyfriend, Danny, 49, but said they won't get married.

Danny, who is an actor and dancer, first met Shirley in 2019 when they were both starring in a Christmas pantomime production of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Just a month later their relationship went public and they have been inseparable ever since.

While appearing on Loose Women this week Shirley shot down any suggestions that the pair would get married in the near future and answered "no" when asked.

The dancer went on to say: "I love my boyfriend to bits but I have made a conscious decision, this year, as I'm sitting here now with you wonderful women not to get married".

Explaining her decision she said: "I just think that we're in a good place, our relationship works.

"And I think as my son said 'well it was you who was pushing to get married mother let's face it'.

"So I just think I want to be able to up and off to the United States and stay here and go there and be where I want to be".

She added: "Not that Danny would ever stop me doing that, but I think we have a really beautiful relationship and I don't really think it was ever in the cards for him, marriage either and I think I was being a bit of a pushy cow".

While she shared that marriage is not on the cards for the loved-up pair, when asked if she had an engagement she responded: "I do have one" as she grinned at the presenters.

But added: "But I'm going to make that into a dress ring, so I can wear it for Strictly".

During her Loose Women appearance, Shirley also excitedly confirmed she will be returning to Strictly Come Dancing as a head judge later this year.

"I'm very excited," she said, before emotionally saying she doesn't think she could "ever fill Len's shoes" on the hit BBC One show.

During the ITV interview, Shirley paid a heartfelt tribute to her friend and former Strictly judge, Len Goodman who died on Saturday 22 April, just days before his 79th birthday.

Shirley replaced Len as a judge on the BBC One show in 2016 but had known him since she was "a very small child", describing him as an "icon".

"I think it's very difficult for all my particular industry because I separate Strictly and Dancing With The Stars. But I've known Len from a very small child and I have a lot of good friends in the industry and we all loved Len," Shirley said.

She went on to emotionally share some of the advice he'd given her early on in her dance career, and praised Len for being a "beautiful human being".

"He could make the rain go away and he was such a beautiful human being," the star said. "Of course later in my career I trained with him.

"He was probably responsible for you know, saying to me, 'Shirley, you can take your work seriously, but stop taking yourself so seriously' because I was such a person that wanted to learn all about the technique."

She added: "And he taught me more about the human spirit. I will take that with me forever. He was just so wonderful. He really was."

Shirley jetted to the US last year for the launch show of Dancing with the Stars to support her son, Mark and this was the final time she saw Len before he passed.

"I went to see the launch show last year when Mark decided he was going to do Dancing with the Stars and I saw Len there and I got my last and final cuddle with him there," she emotionally told the Loose Women panellists.

She sadly described him as "quite frail" and admitted he "didn't look the best" at the time, but was still "full of humour".
