The Weeknd recently shared a music video for “Echoes of Silence” in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the title track from his 2011 mixtape of the same name.
“Here it is,” the “Blinding Lights” singer shared on Instagram. “For the 10th anniversary of ‘Echoes of Silence’ the legend @hajimesorayamaofficial brought his robots to life for the first time using my song as the official score (full video out now) here’s a gift for the OG fans. happy holidays to all of XO… the next time i see you… will be at dawn.”
The video was directed by Kurando Furuya with creative direction from Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama. The CGI-filled visual shows robots in a post-apocalyptic world, as they dance, interact and explore.
“You knew that talking dirty to me on the phone would get me here/ ‘Cause we both wanted to do this but I could tell that you were scared/ ‘Cause you thought there was more to us but you knew how this would end/ It’s gonna end how you expected, girl, you’re such a masochist and I ask why/ And you reply/ I like the thrill/ Nothing’s gonna make me feel this real/ So baby don’t go home/ I don’t wanna spend tonight alone,” The Weeknd sings in the song.
In celebration of Echoes of Silence‘s 10th anniversary, The Weeknd has also launched a capsule in collaboration with Sorayama. The collection features a 1000% Sorayama x The Weeknd [email protected], 400% + 100% Sorayama x The Weeknd [email protected], and cut and sew T-shirts, long sleeve shirts, a trucker hat, hoodies, crewnecks, and a bomber jacket.
Echoes of Silence will also be re-released in its original vinyl as well as a special edition version with artwork by Sorayama.
