Tom Cruise, 59, took a family in Warwickshire completely by surprise after he landed his helicopter in their back garden. The reason? He was running late.

He basically arrived and got out and it was like ‘Wow!’

The actor is currently filming Mission: Impossible 7 here in the UK but due to closures at Coventry Airport, Alison Webb and her family were informed that a “VIP” would need to use their lawn as a landing strip.

Little did they know that the Hollywood star would then emerge.

Speaking to BBC News, Webb said: “I thought it would be kind of cool for the kids to see the helicopter land in the garden.

“He [Tom Cruise] basically arrived and got out and it was like ‘Wow!’

“It turned out to be an incredible day,” she added.

“It was surreal, I still now can’t believe it happened.”

Cruise showed his gratitude by posing for photos with the family and even offered the children a ride in the helicopter while he was in a meeting.

He was recently spotted in Birmingham’s Grand Central shopping centre with co-star Hayley Atwell, before he visited an Indian restaurant called Asha’s where he ordered Chicken Tikka Masala twice.

He looked all smiles with the staff outside the restaurant as the 59-year-old was seen sporting casual attire consisting of a dark blue jumper, jeans and a blue jacket.

Asha’s restaurant, owned by actress Asha Bhosle, shared a picture of the actor outside with staff on their Twitter page.

He was seen beaming at the camera as he held onto his face covering.

The restaurant’s social team wrote: “It was an absolute pleasure to welcome Tom Cruise to Asha’s Birmingham yesterday evening.

“Tom ordered our famous Chicken Tikka Masala and enjoyed it so much that as soon as he had finished, he ordered it all over again – the greatest compliment.”

Mission: Impossible 7 was originally scheduled to release in November last year but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic to May 2022.

Camera and production work has been taking place at the Warner Bros Studios in Hertfordshire and on location across the UK.

Other locations include Italy and Abu Dhabi.

The film is directed by Christopher McQuarrie, who helmed both the fifth and sixth instalments.

It also sees Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson and Vanessa Kirby reprise their roles from the previous sims.

Newcomers include Pom Klementieff, Rob Delaney and Esai Morales.
