Singer Tom Parker revealed in October 2020 that he had been diagnosed with a brain tumour. The musician, who found fame as one-fifth of boyband The Wanted, initially admitted he was in “shock” after the news.

I’ve never cried about Tom being diagnosed

Tom, 32, said that ahead of his diagnosis, he had an “inkling” that there was something wrong with his physical health.

His devastating news came just weeks before he welcomed his second child, son Bodhi, into the world wife with Kelsey Parker.

The couple had welcomed their first child, daughter Aurelia Rose, just one year before he was diagnosed.

Now, in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Kelsey, 31, has opened up about the sobering moment she was dealt the shattering blow.

Discussing Lost & Found hitmaker Tom, Kelsey said: “He’s doing really good, really well.”

The mum-of-two went on to reveal that whenever she is feeling stressed, she finds it better to speak out.

“If I’m feeling a bit stressed out and I’m a bit worried about anything, you know, even in regards to Tom’s medical health, that I think, when I speak about it and I always talk to my mum, or my best friend, that’s how I remain positive.”

Kelsey continued: “I’m like okay if I’ve got that issue, I think about it, I can box it, and then I can move on.”

Explaining her reaction to Tom’s diagnosis, Kelsey added: “I just am a positive person, even when Tom got diagnosed.

“I’ve never cried about Tom being diagnosed it’s like, ‘Right we’ve got this let’s get on with it, let’s move forward.'”

Kelsey went on to say: “You’ve got to push forward and I have got two young kids – I’ve got no other choice really.”

“I’ve just got to get on with it and I’ve got to remain positive for them,” she explained.

In October, Tom revealed that he took himself to Accident and Emergency in July of 2019 after suffering a seizure.

Just six weeks later, the former Wanted star was rushed to hospital for a second time after suffering another seizure during a family trip to Norwich.

Sharing the news with his 212,000 Instagram followers, Tom emotionally penned: “You know that we’ve both been quiet on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to tell you why.

“There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a brain tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment.”

The singer, who joined forces with pal Ollie Marland to work on music together as Lost & Found, continued: “We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way.

“We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way.

“We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options.”

Kelsey joins celebrities including actress Gemma Oaten, Cel Spellman and Dr Alex George as ambassadors for The Diana Award’s Don’t Face It Alone campaign.

Explaining her initial reaction to being asked to front the campaign, Kelsey added: “I was really overwhelmed when they asked me to be an ambassador because, you know, Diana is a massive name, a massive legacy, and what she stood for is what I stand for.

“It’s just an honour to actually be involved in this charity and like I said I work so closely with young children – I just want to help as much as I can.”
