Cara Kilbey has announced that she has been hospitalised weeks after undergoing emergency surgery following a ruptured ectopic pregnancy.

The 33 year old took to social media on Sunday to share the heartbreaking news with fans as she posted a photo from her hospital bed.

Former The Only Way Is Essex star Cara explained her recent absence on Instagram before detailing her recent medical emergencies, which included her latest operation.

Cara penned to her 318,000 followers on the social media platform: "I've been quiet on instagram recently… Last month I found out I had an etopic pregnancy that had ruptured and caused a bleed so was rushed into theatre for an emergency op…

"Now I'm back again but this time with Kidney Stones. Think I'm overdue a holiday," she continued alongside a photo of an IV drip in her arm.

Cara then showed off a photo of her tummy, sharing the scars from her ectopic pregnancy operation.

She said: "These are my surgery scars… If anyone has any advice on scar cream. I would be really appreciative.

"I was lucky enough to have keyhole surgery and just the one Fallopian tube taken away…."

Cara heartbreakingly suffered a miscarriage five months into her first pregnancy in 2015.

A representative for the stunning star said at the time: "It is with great sadness that I must inform you, that last week Cara Kilbey suffered a late miscarriage. Cara was over five months pregnant when she lost her baby.

"Cara and her partner are devastated at the loss and will not be commenting further on this deeply upsetting matter.

"I hope their privacy is respected in order to give them time to grieve and seek support.

One year after her devastating miscarriage, the former TOWIE star welcomed her first child, a daughter named Penelope Blu, with boyfriend Daniel Harris.

The couple then went on to welcome a son named Hunter one year later in 2017.
