Tyson Fury lost £100k bet despite brother Tommy beating bitter rival Jake Paul

Tyson Fury has sensationally lost a £100,000 bet after his brother Tommy Fury beat Jake Paul on Sunday night, but failed to stop his opponent.

Tommy and Jake went toe to toe on Sunday night as they finally stepped into the ring to put an end to their rivalry after two long years of waiting.

In the build up to the fight, tensions had been running high on both sides, with the stakes increasingly getting higher with every passing day – with Tommy even facing the threat of being left stranded in the Middle East if she should lose the fight.

Ahead of the nail biting grudge match, WBC champion Tyson revealed that he had bet a whopping £100,000 on his brother stopping Jake inside the distance, placing an increasing amount of pressure on Tommy’s shoulders ahead of the fight.

Success in the ring would pave the way to Tommy’s boxing future, with the star hoping to finally prove his worth as a potential contender for the world champion title further down the line.

The latest bet follows on from an earlier wager made by Tyson, in which he had shaken on a bet with Jake last August, when the fight was initially meant to take place, however Tommy was forced to withdraw after being unable to enter the US.

The initial value of the bet was reportedly around $1 million dollars, but the amount soon collapsed following the delay of the fight.

While the sums may seem excessive to some, it did serve as a testament to Tyson’s confidence in his brother’s abilities, as he confidently predicted Tommy’s victory ahead of the match.

"Tommy knocks out 90 per cent of people that he spars with or drops them at least, so he's a very hard puncher and Jake Paul will find that out tomorrow," Tyson told iFL TV.

"I've got 100 racks on it for an inside the distance stoppage, so if he loses, then I'll lose 100 bags as well. I've got him at 3-1. I know Tommy is going to knock him out. What is a little bit stupid is I see all these experts and professional boxers picking Jake Paul over Tommy. I'm like, 'What the hell are these guys watching?’.

”Because Tommy will absolutely deck him. I think Tommy can get him out of there whenever really. It'll definitely be inside the distance and it won't be a points job for sure. Tommy wins by knockout. I can smell the fear and he [Jake] is rattling. He is rattling like a little b**** and he is going to get knocked out.”

Ultimately, Tommy did win the fight, but not without causing some serious anxiety for fans in the process.

Initially, Tommy had dominated large parts of the fight, leading many fans to think it would be a clear cut win, however the star was soon dropped in the final round – something which could easily have proven disastrous for Tommy.

Yet despite the setback, as the fight went to the judges scorecards, the panel ultimately ruled in Tommy’s favour, granting him the well deserved win.

In one especially poignant moment, Tommy even dedicated his victory to his girlfriend Molly-Mae and their baby girl Bambi, who was born last month.

Following the fight, Tommy said: "I want to dedicate this fight to my new baby girl Bambi at home and my Mrs, I love you.”

Despite his victory however, Tyson still lost the wager he had placed on his brother, as he had failed to knock out his opponent during their ten round fight.
