‘We have both since moved on’: Saweetie speaks out about Quavo elevator altercation

Nearly two weeks after Saweetie announced she’s no longer in a relationship with Migos rapper Quavo, disturbing footage surfaced of the former couple involved in a physical altercation on an elevator.

The 90-second clip obtained by TMZ from elevator surveillance footage shows Saweetie and Quavo (real names Diamonté Harper, 27, and Quavious Marshall, 29) struggling over an orange suitcase.

During the incident, Saweetie appears to throw a punch at Quavo outside of the elevator before he drags her and the suitcase back in. Quavo appears to push her to the ground. In the video,Saweetie remains on the floor and later limps out of the elevator.

“This unfortunate incident happened a year ago, while we have reconciled since then and moved past this particular disagreement, there were simply too many other hurdles to overcome in our relationship and we have both since moved on,” Saweetie told USA TODAY in a statement. “I kindly ask that everyone respect my privacy during this time.”

According to TMZ, the altercation happened at Saweetie’s rented North Hollywood apartment complex.

USA TODAY also reached out to Quavo’s rep for comment.

The surveillance footage surfaced weeks after Saweetie announced that she’s “single” on Twitter and alluded to infidelity in their relationship. Saweetie and Quavo have been romantically linked since 2018.

“I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character,” she tweeted on March 19. “Presents don’t band aid scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.”

Saweetie added that she “emotionally checked out a long time ago” and “walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom.”

Later that day, Quavo seemed to address their split without directly naming Saweetie.

“I know you want to make this into a show so I’ll play my part just this one time,” he wrote on Twitter. “I don’t normally put my business out there, especially my personal life. I feel the need to address this so there are no false narratives.”

He added: “I had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best”

Saweetie simply replied: “Take care”
