Women are hailing Michelle Obama for her honesty over resentment for husband Barack

Women the world over have hailed Michelle Obama for her honesty over resentment for husband Barack Obama, after she admitted that she "couldn't stand him for ten years".

Michelle, 58, made the claims about her marriage to former US president Barack, 61, as she promoted her new book, The Light We Carry.

Whilst talking about she and her husband trying to "advance their careers", Michelle dubbed her two daughters, Sasha and Malia, as 'terrorists' when they were younger.

Speaking to Revolt earlier this month, Michelle said: "People think I'm being catty for saying this: it's like, there were 10 years where I couldn't stand my husband.

"And guess when it happened? When those kids were little.

"For 10 years, while we're trying to build our careers and worrying about school and who was doing what and what, I was like, 'Argh, this isn't even'."

"And guess what? Marriage isn't 50/50, ever. Ever. There are times I'm 70, he's 30. There are times he's 60, 40. But guess what? Ten years.

"We've been married 30. I would take 10 bad years over 30 — it's just how you look at it. People give up — 'Five years; I can't take it'."

Michelle and Barack's two daughters, Malia, 24, and Sasha, 21, were just ten and seven when they moved into the White House, when their father became president of the United States, propelling them onto the world stage.

Michelle described her daughters as "terrorists" when the were little, as she said: "Little kids, they're terrorists. They have demands. They don't talk. They're poor communicators. They cry all the time.

"They're irrational. They're needy. And you love them. And so you can't blame them, right? … So you turn that ire on each other."

Mothers across the globe were quick to praise Michelle for her honesty, as one wrote on TikTok: "This is the raw talk and dialogues we need to start having about marriage."

Another wrote: "This hit so hard. People don't open up about how hard marriage is. Enough!"

A third commented: "This is probably the most I've heard from Michelle Obama and I loved everything she said!!" whilst a fourth said: "This freely speaking Michelle is what we all need!"

Michelle also talked about making friends at her kids' school, as she explained: "The first friend I made was a black mom. We were in a predominantly white school and I was like Sasha you and Olivia are going to be friends because she's a black girl.

"And they didn't even like each other. I was like I want to get to know her mother because I wanted the black mom experience.

"It's like how you dealing with… and which teachers to look out for."
