Adele has broken down in tears in an online video as she told fans that she'd been forced to postpone her upcoming Las Vegas residency just one day before she was due to perform her first show.

The British singer, 31, has shared a candid clip from her hotel room as she updated her loyal legion of fans about her highly-anticipated American show which was due to kick off on Friday.

As she addressed her 27.1 million followers on Twitter, she revealed one of the main reasons why she was forced to set back the show was due to the delays impacted by the coronavirus.

The singer had been scheduled to begin the Friday and Saturday shows on January 21, but she told fans: "My show ain't ready."

In the apology, Adele started with: "Hiya, listen, I’m so sorry but my show ain’t ready. We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and Covid.

"Half my crew, half my team are down with Covid, they still are. And it’s been impossible to finish the show and I can’t give you what I have right now, and I’m gutted. I’m gutted. And I’m sorry it’s so last minute.

An upset Adele added: "I'm sorry it's so last minute, we've been awake for over 30 hours now trying to figure it out and we've run out of time and I'm so upset and I'm really embarrassed."

"I'm so sorry to everyone that's travelled again, I'm really really sorry.

"We're on it we're going to reschedule all of the dates and I'm going to finish the show and get it to where it needs to be for you."

In the video, The Easy On Me singer promised fans that she would re-schedule all of the dates.

She said: ""All dates will be rescheduled, more info coming soon."

The announcement comes two weeks after the singer released the hotly anticipated music video for her latest single 'Oh My God'.

The London-born star has said that her latest album 30 is an attempt to explain her divorce from her husband to her nine-year-old son Angelo.

The album made headlines after it became 2021's fastest-selling album, even overtaking the return of Abba.

Adele's success in 2021 had been monumental, her ITV special, An Audience With Adele, where she performed some of her hit songs from her latest album drew a peak audience of 5.4 million viewers.

Her first single, Easy On me, from her latest album received 533,000,000 streams on Spotify and is now Adele's longest-running chart-topper, outstripping Someone Like You.

The show helped ITV achieve its biggest Sunday night of the year.
