Adele has confirmed that her divorce has inspired her comeback to music with her fourth album, 30.
She has finally returned after being away for five years as she released her new single Easy On Me, yesterday.
Adele was married to Simon Konecki but revealed in an interview with British Vogue, what fans thought about their relationship was all wrong.
The 33-year old is believed to have married Simon in 2016 after referring to him as her "husband" in award speeches in 2017.
However, in the interview the singer revealed that they didn’t actually marry until 2018.
She said: "The timeline the press have of my relationship, my marriage, is actually completely wrong. We got married when I was 30… and then I left."
Adele turned 30 in May 2018 and didn’t confirm how long her marriage actually lasted for, but she added: "I’m not gonna go into that detail, remember I am embarrassed. This is very embarrassing. It wasn’t very long."
Simon is the CEO of the charity Drop4Drop, which works to provide clean water to poor countries.
He set the charity up with his friend Lucas White after starting an eco-friendly bottled water brand, Life Water.
The 47-year-old was originally from New York but relocated to the UK with his family when he was 10.
While growing up Simon attended Eton.
The couple confirmed they were dating in 2011, a year later Adele confirmed she was pregnant with her first child, son Angelo who is now nine.
Simon reportedly has a daughter as well from a previous marriage with stylist Clary Fisher.
Adele and Simon confirmed their divorce in April 2019.
It read: "Adele and her partner have separated. They are committed to raising their son together lovingly. As always they ask for privacy. There will be no further comment."
The couple are making co-parenting work by Simon purchasing a house across the road from Adele's LA mansion.
Admitting the split has been hard on her son, Adele said: "My son has had a lot of questions. Really good questions, really innocent questions, that I just don’t have an answer for. 'Why can’t you still live together?’
"I just felt like I wanted to explain to him, through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness.
"It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal."
