Alexandra Burke wears breast pump at Notting Hill Carnival weeks after birth

Former X Factor winner Alexandra Burke wowed onlookers at Notting Hill Carnival over the weekend wearing a breast pump under her costume just weeks after giving birth.

The new mum, 34, was advocating for breastfeeding awareness campaign Pumps On Parade after welcoming her first child with footballer fiancé Darren Randolph in July.

The singer took to the streets of west London in full costume on day three of the annual event wearing her pump under an extravagant sequinned outfit featuring a bedazzled bodysuit and fishnet tights.

The elaborate costume was also complete with an incredible feather wing display.

Family-run band Utopia Mas UK follows research undertaken by breast pump manufacturer Elvie Stride that reveals almost half of mothers feel they lose a sense of self when breastfeeding or pumping.

The star appeared in good spirits as she danced in the Adults Day Parade, which kicked off at 10.30am and lasts until 8.30pm.

The carnival event has been online in recent years due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but made an in-person comeback yesterday.

Speaking about her breast pump Alexandra said: “I think every mum is a little nervous about getting out and about again after giving birth. I’ve felt it, especially as I’ve been in a complete bubble at home since the little one arrived.

"Today at Carnival I’m feeling proud to be alongside The Utopia Band and wearing the Elvie Stride breast pump. And having been the first-ever ambassador, Notting Hill Carnival has a special place in my heart.

"It’s an incredible environment and experience to be immersed in, where all cultures come together and feel as one through great music, food and good vibes."

It comes weeks after Alexandra announced the birth of her first child with beau Darren, 34.

Posting a picture of her little one's feet on Instagram, she wrote: "Welcome to the world our little grape, we already love you more than words can say."

Burke and Randolph – a goalkeeper with West Ham United – are yet to announced the name and gender of their baby, having struggled to decide on what to call it.

She told HELLO! magazine: 'We are still deciding on a name, but we've got a few floating around. Ever since I fell pregnant, we've affectionately called the baby 'Grape'. I think some people may have thought that was their name!'
