The year of 2022 has only just begun, and we've sadly waved goodbye to some much-loved stars already, including Full House actor Bob Saget and Oscar-winning Hollywood legend Sidney Poitier.
In 2021 we also said goodbye to some incredible stars, including beloved actress Betty White and Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding.
It can be heartbreaking to find out that our idols have passed away. But it's important to remember their finest work and greatest achievements, which can offer some comfort.
They leave behind a legacy that will never be forgotten by friends, family and their fans around the world, who will enjoy their contributions for years to come.
Here we remember the celebrities who have passed away in 2022.
January
Bob Saget
Full House actor and American stand-up comedian Bob Saget died at the age of 65 on January 9.
The actor was found dead at a hotel room in the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lake hotel midway through his stand-up tour.
The Bob Saget: I Don't Do Negative Tour kicked off back in September 2021.
Bob was perhaps best known for his role as Danny Tanner on Full House, but rose to fame with a stint on CBS' The Morning Program in 1987.
He also hosted America's Funniest Home Videos from 1989 to 1997 and voiced the dad in How I Met Your Mother.
Koady Chaisson
The East Pointers star Koady Chaisson died aged 37 on January 8.
The musician played banjo in the indie group, who were supposed to depart on a world tour in February.
The East Pointers formed in 2014 with Koady, Tim Chaisson and Jake Charron, and brought out hits like Wintergreen.
In 2016, The East Pointers won the Canadian Folk Music Award for Ensemble of the Year.
Sidney Poitier
Hollywood legend Sir Sidney Poitier passed away aged 94 on January 6.
The Bahamian-American actor had appeared in more than 50 movies during his career, which spanned over 71 years.
Some of his best-known films include classics like The Heat Of The Night, Lillies Of The Field and Guess Who's Coming To Dinner.
He was also the first black male to win an Academy Award for Best Actor in 1964.
Sir Sidney also published many autobiographies during his career including This Life, The Measure of a Man: A Spiritual Autobiography (2007) and Life Beyond Measure: Letters to My Great-Granddaughter (2008).
Peter Bogdanovich
The Sopranos star Peter Bogdanovich died at his home aged 82 on January 6.
The US actor was known for great films such as The Last Picture Show, Paper Moon and What’s Up, Doc?
Other movies on his roster include Targets, Saint Jack, Daisy Miller and At Long Last Love.
His last feature as a director was for the film titled She’s Funny That Way in 2014.
Igor Bogdanoff
French TV chef Igor Bogdanoff died at the age of 72 following complications with Covid-19 on January 3.
He passed away just days after his twin brother Grichka died from coronavirus on December 28.
The beloved twins were known for their eccentric personalities, and were also notably known for their signature facial structures.
Igor and Grichka rose to fame as presenters of the popular sci-fi show Temps X in the 1980s.
They went on to host a number of other shows, including Rayons X, which aired in 2002. More recently they both appeared on the French version of The Masker Singer.
George Rossi
The Bill actor George Rossi passed away aged 61 on January 5.
George made his acting debut in the 1984 film Comfort & Joy – starring alongside his brother in the movie.
Before that, he worked in his family's ice cream business before pursuing a career in showbiz – later enrolling at the East 15 Acting School.
He also appeared in Holby City, The Singing Detective, Taggart and Whitechapel.
Kim Mi-soo
Disney+ actress Kim Mi-soo died suddenly at the age of 29 on January 5.
The young Korean star played Yeo Jung Min in the series Snowdrop, and also appeared in two films released in 2019 – Kyungmi's World and Memories.
Filming for Snowdrop had completed, although the show is still airing – and is available to stream in selected regions.
The series is set in 1987 South Korea – a famous chapter in the country's history as it involved the growth of the Democracy Movement which challenged the dictatorship in South Korea.
