Amanda Holden’s sexiest BGT outfits that racked up masses of Ofcom complaints

As a longstanding judge on Britain's Got Talent, it's safe to say Amanda Holden has created quite a stir over the years – especially when it comes some of her wardrobe choices.

Back in 2007, Amanda originally joined the BGT panel alongside the programme creator Simon Cowell and GMB star Piers Morgan.

The English actress-turned-radio-presenter has been blowing viewers away on the show for well over a decade and has won legions of fans with her humour and charm.

However, it hasn't been always heaps of praise for the 49-year-old, with the bombshell regularly facing up to numerous Ofcom complaints about her racy attire.

Despite acknowledging the complaints, fun-loving Amanda has still managed to find herself at the heart of controversy, even in more recent times.

Here, Daily Star explores the dresses that have sparked masses of complaints to the Watchdog.

Epic plunging dress

In 2017, Amanda took to the stage wearing a striking garment designed by Julien Macdonald that boasted a deep plunging neckline.

The eye-popping item, which almost exposed her navel, certainly wasn't popular with viewers and a staggering 663 complaints were submitted to Ofcom.

After learning a significant number of objections had been put forward, she fended off comments with a smile on her face.

Speaking to The Sun, she said: "That dress was hysterical – it was Julien Macdonald.

"I had bits of fish wire underneath my breasts trying to hold that together. But, look, I'm from a small-chest family, plus you know I'm 48 years old. It's all quite laughable, but all everyone seems to talk about."

Defiant Amanda added: "It's been called another national crisis – but, oh no, I will not be covered up."

Spiderweb frock

Amanda donned a more modest garment during the 2019 BGT semi-finals – but still, the regulator received a total of nine complaints about the outfit.

Boasting a colourful floral hem along with spiderweb embroidery, the frock was deemed "inappropriate" for a family TV show by certain unhappy viewers.

It's safe to say Amanda looked effortlessly stunning in the jaw-dropping Nicolas Jebran garment.

At the time, a spokesperson for Ofcom said: "We are assessing these complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate."

Bottomless display

Before Amanda stepped out in an almost totally sheer and glitzy frock, she harboured suspicions the outfit would spark a reaction.

Ramping up the sex appeal, the Heart FM radio presenter unveiled her killer legs in the barely-there garment that also boasted peephole detail, flashing a glimpse of cleavage.

The TV star, who was already renowned for her notorious barely-there frocks, told The Sun that she hoped her attire would cause a storm before it had even been unveiled.

Speaking to the publication before the live show, she said: "I can't wait to wear my dresses. They are very flattering, very feminine and a few are… what you would expect.

"None of them have been worn before, which is the main thing for me.

"Will people be complaining to Ofcom? I hope so, I really do. I haven't done my job if they aren't."

Daring side slit

Last year, Amanda pulled out all of the stops when it came to ensuring that her outfits were a talking point.

The mum-of-two rocked a sheer one-sleeved and asymmetric frock that featured a lace bodice and a jaw-dropping thigh-high leg split.

But the dress wasn't to everyone's taste and again the media personality found her choice of frock at the forefront of the conversation.

Hitting out at critics, she took to Instagram, penning: "Surely there are more terrible and important things to write about…don't you agree? I'm baffled why it's still going on," she said, before adding the hashtag "#sexist".

Cleavage flashing gown

In 2020, Amanda achieved two rounds of complaints sent to the watchdog after it was claimed she had exposed her nipples on the family show.

Wearing a daring blue number that was cut incredibly low, BGT fans alleged she had shown more than she had bargained to.

At the time, the glitzy navy blue item racked up a massive 235 complaints which again saw the presenter take to her social media platform to defend her post.

She said: "Mmmm really?! Who has nipples this close to their cleavage?!

"FYI. A boned corset dented the girls all night."
