AMAs 2022: Cardi B Makes Surprise Appearance While Joining GloRilla Onstage

Celebrating the award-giving event’s 50th anniversary, the event also sees performances from country singer Carry Underwood and Pink, who opens the night with a high-energy performance.

AceShowbiz -A slew of big musicians from various generations and genres hit the stage at the 2022 American Music Awards, which took place in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 20. Celebrating the award-giving event’s 50th anniversary, the event featured performances from first-time nominee and performer Glorilla as well as music icon Stevie Wonder.

Opening the big event, Pink lifted the mood with a performance of her new single “Never Gonna Not Dance Again”. As she showed up on rollerskates, she transformed the Microsoft Theater into “Pink’s Rink” for her performance.

Pink also delivered a heartwarming tribute to Olivia Newton-John. Donning a beautiful silver dress, she sang “Hopelessly Devoted to You” in honor of the “Grease” icon, who died of breast cancer at age 73 in August.

Meanwhile, Bebe Rexha treated the audience to the first performance of her electro-dance collaboration with David Guetta, “Feel Good”. Anitta and Missy Elliott later teamed up for an epic performance of their collaborative song “Lobby”. Anitta, who is up for Favorite Female Latin Artist award this year, also showcased her talent while performing her recent hit “Envolver”.

This year’s event also showed Carrie Underwood bringing a jaw-dropping performance of her new song “Crazy Angels”. The award-winning country singer amazed everyone as she twisted herself around an acrobatics ring while belting the notes perfectly. Carrie, who was nominated for two AMA awards this year, was then carried to the main stage.

Later that night, Cardi B made a surprise appearance as she joined GloRilla onstage. The two femcees, who were clad in a baby blue and a bright yellow ensembles respectively, united for high-energy performance of their hit, “Tomorrow 2”.

Cardi’s appearance, which marked her first following the death of Takeoff, came after host Wayne Brady paid a special tribute to the Migos rapper. “We recently lost Kirsnick Khari Ball, better known as Takeoff, one-third of the groundbreaking hip-hop group Migos,” he said.

“On behalf of all of us that love hip-hop all around the world, we thank you, Takeoff, for your artistry, and tonight, we honor your memory,” he added. “We have to stop this senseless and terrible gun violence,” he continued, before sending his love and prayers to the victims of the Club Q shooting in Colorado Springs, Colorado, on Saturday night.
