Ashley Cain heaps support on bereaved mum fighting for son who battles cancer

Ashley Cain and his ex-partner Safiyya Vorajee are among numerous stars throwing support and positivity behind brave parents Sophie and Luke Kitcher who are battling to save their newborn son Ralphie.

At just four weeks old, Ralphie Kitcher was diagnosed with a rare blood cell cancer known as Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML).

Doctors delivered the crushing news that Sophie and Luke's precious and beautiful baby son had a thirty percent survival rate, with Ralphie needing to begin chemotherapy treatment just days into his life.

The heartbreaking news was another low blow for the parents from Hertfordshire who had only laid their baby son Huxley to rest at just over one year ago.

Unbeknown to Sophie and Luke, their first son Huxley was born with Down syndrome and later developed a hole in his intestine but sadly medics who performed a lifesaving operation were unable to save him.

Reality star Ashley and his ex Safiyya a Vorajee know all too well about Luke and Sophie's pain after they fought tirelessly for their own baby daughter Azaylia Cain – who battled the same rare form of leukaemia as Ralphie when she was just eight weeks old.

Having walked in very similar shoes to Sophie and Luke just last year and the loss of their own daughter still raw, both Ashley and Safiyya who have now separated wanted to offer up their support and kind words after learning about Ralphie's battle.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins star Ashley wrote to the new mum on social media: "My love, thoughts, strength and prayers are with you all during this time.

"Stay as positive as you can during this time, make the most of every single second and always believe! Let's go little champ."

Safiyya also commented on Sophie's Instagram post: "I'm so sorry my heart is heavy reading this. No child or parent should ever have to feel this pain and walk this journey.

"My love and prayers and thoughts are with you during this heartbreaking time, I'm here if you need someone to talk to. All my love and keep fighting. You are brave, you are strong and you are a champ."

Other celebrities such as Towie stars Yazmin Oukhellou and Frankie Essex were also on hand to offer up love and thoughts.

While Love Island stars Malin Anderson and Olivia Bowen were among many reality stars who sent prayers to Sophie, Luke and Ralphie.

Sophie told the Daily Star that the last few days had been exceptionally frightening after watching her son go through chemotherapy and numerous procedures at such a young age.

Luke's wife explained that Ralphie had developed painful "ulcers" and "was being sick while not really feeding".

She added: "You just can't take your eyes off of him ever because he's constantly gagging and choking in his sleep.

"He's doing so much better after he caught a severe infection that caused his eyes to roll back in his head and he just wasn't responding as they shone lights into his face."

Explaining the horror that was unfolding before her eyes, Sophie told us how doctors and the intensive care team ran to Ralphie's rescue in the middle of the night while she was on her own at the hospital.

Sophie went on: "It was really scary, they all came running in and the intensive care team, I was on my own so as you can imagine it was awful."

In spite of such devastation, Sophie remains in high spirits for her brave boy, explaining that Ralphie was now "looking so much better after catching a "nasty infection" which proved to be heart-stopping for the married couple.

Just a month after being on cloud nine with their newborn, Sophie took to Instagram with shattering news as she asked her followers to pray for them.

She wrote: "Mummy and daddy are absolutely broken in pieces," as she questioned why she had been struck with such heart ache for a second time.

The new mum from Ware in Hertfordshire's heartbreaking full post read: "PLEASE HELP AND PRAY FOR US!

"If we haven't already been through hell and back here we are again, our beautiful darling rainbow boy has been diagnosed with leukaemia at one month old. We are now back at Great Ormond Street where we were last year and this is our new living quarters for the next five months while he undergoes chemotherapy with a 30 percent survival rate!

"I don't understand how life can be so cruel and my baby has now got to go through this. Ralphie you are our purpose and the reason we are still both here today fighting for you with your brother looking over us!

"Please everyone say your prayers for us, Mummy and Daddy are absolutely broken in pieces. How has this happened, you are so perfect!

"I'll be coming away from socials but please all say prayers for us. We need as much support as we can!!."

Since then, friends of the Kitcher's came together to set up a Go Fund Me page, asking for donations to fund accommodation for Sophie and Luke in London over the next five months so that they can be at the bedside of their baby son.

After the link was set live and their emotional journey and heartbreaking story was out there for all to see, their target was exceeded again and again.

The couple have now raised over £70,000 in donations with over four thousand people offering up monies to support the cause.
