A source told the publication: "It's very sad but they are no longer together.

"I think they tried to tough it out for quite a while as they didn't want to split up if they could possibly help it for the sake of their son but they clearly couldn't make a go of it.

"They've both been very guarded about the reasons behind their growing apart but it's been plain for a while that they had been and now it's obvious that they haven't been able to resolve that despite clearly trying for some time."

Sally's career has gone from strength to strength after leaving her career as a sports journalist to sit on the red sofa as a permanent presenter.

The TV star, 51, is now a much-loved host on the BBC morning show after replacing Louise Minchin in 2021.

Whereas, her husband, 52, moved on from a senior marketing role at Pets at Home to investing in a local franchise for The Massage Company.

The insider added: "The contrast between their two media careers couldn't have been more stark."

The couple share a teenage son together and lived in a gated £1.48million four-bed detached house in the upmarket suburb of Hale, Greater Manchester.

According to reporters, the pair bought the property for £745,000 back in 2012.

The stunning home was seen to be on sale again in November 2022 but does not seem to be on the market currently.

Sally has never spoken publicly about the identity of her husband and only shares minimal information in her biography which is written on the BBC Breakfast website

It simply reads thatshe is "married with one child – a football and rugby-mad boy".

The Daily Star has gone to Sally's reps for comment.
