BBC Breakfast’s Louise Minchin marks success of impressive trip with rare selfie

Ex- BBC Breakfast presenter and journalist Louise Minchin has shared a picture of herself to mark the amazing journey she has just completed, biking through Chile, Argentina and into the Andes.

In the first post, she posed in her biking gear, wearing a blue and pink jacket, cycling shorts, a black helmet and riding shoes in front of a sprawling hillside on a dirt track.

The second snap showed Minchin taking a selfie mid ride, wearing sunglasses and a dainty gold chain necklace with an ‘L’ charm whilst riding along a black tarmac road.

Her next selfies featured a pink, blue and orange track top as she proudly smiled at the camera – well deserved after her impressive feat.

Louise wrote a heartfelt message in the caption: “It’s hard to sum up the 1,200 kilometre journey on my bike from the border between Chile and Argentina at 3,800 metres high in the Andes to Buenos Aires but these photos capture many of my emotions, excitement, elation, exhaustion and most importantly friendship.”

She went on to thank her friends for letting her join their ‘epic’ journey which she called a ‘test of endurance and courage that I will never forget’.

She also thanked the organisers, photographers, paramedics and fellow cyclists before turning to her fans: “Thank you, too, for your messages of support, they have encouraged me on my way."

"I will write all about it in my new book and in the meantime will be taking my foot off the pedal while I recover!”

Louise’s 127 thousand Instagram followers were in awe of her massive accomplishment and flocked to the comments to shower the BBC Breakfast journalist with their praises.

One wrote: “Great adventure, you’re amazing. Enjoy the recuperation.”

Another said: “Well done,” while another adoring fan told the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! contestant: “Superstar!”

Louise mentioned that she will be writing a book about her experience and fans will expect another bestseller like her 2018 project Dare To Tri: My Journey From The BBC Breakfast Sofa To GB Team Triathlete.

The book follows her trials and tribulations as she navigated the world of sport and attempts to make the shift from beloved news presenter to hardcore athelete, representing Great Britain in the World Triathlon Championships.
