BBCs Louise Minchin touches on Queens fabulous sense of humour in tribute

Former BBC Breakfast host Louise Minchin has touched upon the late Queen's "fabulous sense of humour" in a very poignant tribute.

Sharing the same black and white image that Buckingham Palace shared when they announced the Queen's passing, Louise wrote a beautiful message to pay tribute to the longest reigning Monarch.

Writing a caption to accompany the photo, Louise penned: "What a sad day. Our wonderful Queen has left us.

"The personification of duty, service, loyalty and all with a fabulous sense of humour. How much we will miss her."

Flocking to the comments, the broadcaster's followers were quick to join in by sharing sweet messages.

One person penned: "Such a huge loss to her family and the Nation. Two days ago she was still working. Loyal and dutiful to the end. Thankfully no long-drawn-out illness. We will certainly miss her."

"A sad day and a sad loss of an incredible woman," added a second.

While a third simply said: "Lovely tribute Louise."

The reference to the Queen's "fabulous sense of humour" was recently apparent when during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations she sat down for a sweet sketch with Paddington Bear.

Louise is among a slew of celebrities, journalists and broadcasters to pay tribute to the late Monarch with social media posts.

Piers Morgan, Dan Walker and Kate Garraway are among the broadcasters to share sweet messages about the Queen after her passing.

Her Majesty passed away on Thursday evening (September 8) following a day full of worry for the entire world.

At around midday, the palace released a statement which read: "Following further evaluation this morning, the Queen's doctors are concerned for Her Majesty's health and have recommended she remain under medical supervision.

"The Queen remains comfortable and at Balmoral."

Fears began to grow among the general public before the news broke at around 6:30pm that she had passed away this evening.
