Golden Girls actress Betty White performed a poignant act of kindness before her death aged 99.
The star, who died on December 31, 2021, just shy of her 100th birthday, wanted to make an airline worker’s life easier while flying to Los Angeles.
One Twitter user couldn’t help but reminisce: "When celebrities die folks always talk about how nice they were but it's true with Betty White. My ex was a flight attendant for United.
"He was working a [transcontinental flight] from JFK to LAX when he was called to first class. As he was preparing the galley a passenger offered to help him."
The user added: "Before he could say anything this woman picked up the coffee pot and went around to the passengers refilling their cups.
"She was engaging them in conversation. She brought the pot back and they shared a laugh. The passenger was Betty White."
Fans couldn’t help but comment their appreciation for the story and their appreciation for Betty, with one writing: "I can actually picture her doing it as well! Thank you for sharing an awesome experience your ex had! Happy New Year! #RIPBettyWhite #FlyHighWithAngels."
"I love this story. Thanks for sharing. She really led with kindness," another fan responded.
As someone else said: "What’s important is that we all got to tell her how much she mattered to us when she was still alive."
Betty was found dead on New Year’s Eve, and according to TMZ didn’t suffer a sudden illness. She is believed to have died of natural causes.
Actor and co-star Ryan Reynolds led the tributes to the late star.
The actor, who starred alongside Betty in the rom-com The Proposal, wrote: "The world looks different now. She was great at defying expectation. She managed to grow very old and somehow, not old enough. We’ll miss you, Betty. Now you know the secret."
Betty, who appeared in a whopping 180 episodes of Golden Girls over the years, was gifted a Guinness World Record in 2018 for the longest TV career by an entertainer for a female.
In her more than 80 years on-screen, Betty made her name in flicks like Toy Story 4 and The Lorax, as well as shows including My Name Is Earl and The Simpsons.
In her poignant final interview before her death, Betty told People magazine: "I’m so lucky to be in such good health and feel so good at this age."
